J Lo Makeup Tutorial – Goin’ In

Jennifer Lopez – a longtime beauty inspiration of mine – has just released a single featuring Flo Rida for the upcoming soundtrack of ‘Step Up Revolution’ called ‘Goin’ In‘. While she wears a lot of gorgeous Blumarine pieces in the music video, it’s not the fashion that blew me away. It was the make-up: a perfect mix of wild and wearable.

Get The Look – Goin in:
Skin: There is a flawless matte base which holds the look together (try Illamasqua’s Skin Base). While her foundation isn’t dewy, her skin is still luminous. To achieve this tricky glow, I used Lush’s new Feeling Younger skin tint under the eye area and on top of my cheekbones.

Cheeks: J Lo is wearing very little blush, but the natural depth of her cheekbones helps create quite a chiselled look. If, like me, you don’t have cheekbones that cut glass, blend a matte bronzer under your cheekbones (try Stila Set and Bronze) and a lilac-toned blush (try BareMinerals’ Secret) lightly on the apples of your cheeks.

Eyes: The eyes are not the focal point of the look, but still look gorgeous in the video. The eyeshadow is barely-there and the lashes (extensions, I believe) are perfection. To achieve this look, I used GOSH Cosmetics Boombastic mascara on my top lashes, but I would suggest a pair of natural falsies (try Eylure Feathery lashes) if you would like a little more definition on a night out. Because the look has no eyeliner, create a bit of defnition by sweeping a taupe eyeshadow (Naked 2 palette saves the day!) over your entire lid area, blending into the crease.

Lips: Much easier than they look, my darlings! The look requires two steps; 1) lipstick and 2) crystals! To create the perfect lip colour, I mixed together silver glitter, a fuschia lipstick, a purple lipstick and sealed it with Lipcote. The Lipcote isn’t essential if you want to leave your lips glittery, but if you wish to go for the full crystallized effect it is an additional measure to help the pieces adhere.
Once my lip colour felt secure, I applied eyelash glue to the back of Swarovski crystals and applied them to my lips using tweezers. For the best shape, start on the edge of your lips and fill your lips with crystals from the outside in.

Throwing a shirt over your head = optional.
