Nanoblur Case Study

Though the admittance of it is often frowned upon, we all love a little bit of make-up. (Some of us love A WHOLE LOT).

The love, for the most part, comes from a simple desire to look better in almost no time at all. We don’t want Rosie Huntington Whiteley’s face, we just want to look like the best version of ourselves without wasting time or money…

…which is why I have fallen head over heels for a product called Nanoblur. Basically, it’s foolproof airbrushing with instant gratification. It is one of those brands you would love to roll your eyes at – the makers of the balm claim it can make you look younger in 40 seconds – but, unusually, can deliver on their extravagant claims!

How so? The balm is chock full of high tech nanoparticles that distribute light evenly all over your skin, essentially blurring any ‘imperfections’ from wrinkles to pigmentation.

Though the formula is similar to the magic behind YSL’s celebrity and cult favourite, Touche Eclait, the particles are actually even smaller – 700 nanometres, hence ‘Nanoblur’.

A perfect choice for make-up ‘free’ days, men who don’t wish to use foundation, and an extra boost under HD demands. Check out my bare face below to see how brilliantly it has worked in regards to evening out my rosacea-affected complexion!

The cherry on top? It sells at Boots for £19.99. For this kind of skin sorcery….a bargain.

Murad Hydro Dynamic
Kicking off what could only be described as “Beauty Day” at is super skincare brand Murad!

Last week, I was invited to an intimate event hosted by Dr Murad himself, as well as product developer (and recipient of the incredibly handsome Murad gene), Jeff Murad. Reason being? Murad have dipped their first toe into the pool of make-up!

Before we get into those – I know, such a tease! – it is definitely worth taking a look at a new product from one of their separate collections – the Hydro Dynamic Ultimate Moisture. While I certainly wouldn’t categorise my facial skin as dry, this “uber-rich, intensely hydrating, all purpose cream provides instant and long term relief from dryness”…well…they kind of said it all, haven’t they? It has been a perfect, soothing treat for dry spots.

Handy hint? Mix it in with your body moisturiser. The results will speak for themselves.

But on to the new range! Their make-up conscious collection called “Hybrids” consists of two multi-tasking skin primers and two eye products.

The skin primers are fantastic – just what you would expect from a brand at the top of their skincare game.
First, there was the Hybrids Skin Perfecting Primer Matte Finish: a product that would typically turn me off (strong personal aversion to looking matte!). In actuality, it is awesome. It creates a strong canvas for foundation while waving a magic wand over imperfections – all without the dreaded cardboard face effect!
The (oil free) Hybrids Skin Perfecting Primer Dewy Finish appears to do the exact same thing (no complaints!) yet boasts light-enhancing minerals which give you a natural glow.

The Hybrids Eye Lift Perfector and Hybrids Eye Lift Illuminator both lift, hydrate and depuff the eye area while minimising dark circles. The difference is that the Illuminator has a neutralizing violet formula which offers a little something extra for those of us who need to fake a good night’s sleep. *Hand raise*

I can’t wait to see what Murad thinks up next.

Kate Bosworth Dip Dye
It’s a day of extra special photoshoots! Actress and Princeton-accepted beauty Kate Bosworth has posed her blonde off (okay, it’s dip dye) in this editorial for StyleCaster. As the face of JewelMint (a jewellery line which she designs with stylist Cher Coulter) and a red-carpet trendsetter, she is certainly deserving of her place in the Fashion Pack.

The shoot was lensed by David Mushegain and styled by Cher Coulter (no surprise!), while her hair (Luke Chamberlain) and make-up (Kate Lee) were taken care of by two of the best Starworks Artists around.

I’m going to be needing that sequinned Dolce & Gabbana blazer. View Post

Spring Summer 2012 Beauty
I was so incredibly impressed by the beauty trends of Spring/Summer 2012, I can’t hold it in!

As a former make-up artist, I can appreciate the creativity and effort that goes into the more extravagant beauty trends, but hate to see them ‘inspiring’ young girls into cake-facing themselves. Personal preference, of course, as I am a woman who rarely wears colour anywhere but the lips.

For that reason, I am going crazy over S/S 2012. With a plethora of fresh-faced looks that would be pretty easy to interpret from home, it fit into the ‘natural’ beauty ideals that I rave about without being boring. 9 out of 10 shows featured flawless enhancements of natural beauty – and I hope it catches on!

Which one of these looks would you like to see in a make-up tutorial? View Post

Repechage Biolight
I am one of the lucky ones with easy to care for skin. While I definitely ‘suffer’ from sensitivity, it’s nothing more than avoiding abrasive products to stay fresh-faced with clear skin.

While I don’t take it for granted, I definitely don’t maintain a specific skincare regime. I’m a relentless tester of new products and tend to use something whatever cleanser, exfoliant and moisturiser is nearest in the morning.

After trying Repechage’s Biolight products, I have changed things. The system boasts breakthrough technology in the treatment of hyper-pigmentation and uneven skin tone using ground-breaking peptide and marine technology (without the typical inflammation and irritation of the skin associated with this genre of skincare).

The products – suitable for all ages, skin types and ethnicities – combine some of the best skincare ingredients (ie anti-inflammatories, brighteners, collagen-boosters) on the market and utilise them in a completely new way. We’re talking Goto Kola, Hexapeptide-2, Liquorice Root, Bellis Daisy, and Willow Bark Extract. While I don’t nessecarily need any of these things for my skin, using the system for just two days made my skin brighter, softer, and more touchable than ever before.

Kleenex Cleansing Wipes
In combination with Repechage’s Biolight, I have welcomed Kleenex‘s brand new facial cleansing range into my regime!

I know what you’re thinking, but you might be intrigued to find out that Kleenex actually started in skincare and moved onto their reliable tissues later on. Basically, they have used four great products to get back to their roots.

Eye Makeup Removal Wipes:
“These soft, quilted wipes contain natural fibres to provide a gentle and effective cleanse, removing your “mask” at the end of the day. They are suitable even for sensitive skin and the Eye Makeup Removal Wipes effectively remove stubborn waterproof mascaras. RRP* £2.99 for 24 wipes.”

The only make-up I can’t part with is mascara, meaning my eye area is always the most annoying to cleanse. These work beautifully, quickly, and thoroughly.

Facial Cloths:
“These gentle, quilted, soft sheets made from natural fibres are not only larger but also softer than cotton wool. They are soft and strong when wet or dry so you can use them not only while applying cleanser and toner, but also while removing face masks and even nail varnish. RRP* £1.99 for 30 cloths.”

I use these at the end of the day when I don’t want to use my whole skincare system but want a clean face for sleep-time. I also use them to help work the Biolight cleanser into my skin come morning time, which makes it squeaky clean!

Shine Absorbing Sheets:
“An essential for every busy woman’s handbag, the Shine Absorbing Sheets provide an efficient and discreet way of blotting excess shine caused by oil that builds up on your skin during the day. The sheets remove the shine without disturbing your makeup so are fantastic for quick touch-ups to keep you looking immaculate. RRP* £2.99 for 50 sheets”.

I don’t get shiny, but to test these out I layered an oil-based moisturiser over some liquid foundation, and these sheets took the ‘sheen’ away without taking colour product off!
