This week, Leighton Meester was back on the set of ‘Gossip Girl’ and spurring on the very ‘now‘ yellow trend of Spring 2012 while filming with co-star Ed Westwick in New York City. Her lemon-hued coat was worn over a floral-print dress from Peter Som‘s Spring/Summer collection.
To toe the look, Leighton was dressed in maroon Mary Jane pumps by Miu Miu and a matching cross-body handbag from Stella McCartney. Finished with a bun and pearls, this is a total go-to for ‘colour meets ladylike’.

The styling of Leighton Meester‘s latest magazine cover – for Marie Claire – was gorgeous, ethereal, and beautifully varied. On the cover, she wore a lemon-coloured chiffon top from Reed Krakoff Spring/Summer 2012. (more…)

Probably my favourite look from Leighton Meester as of late was the ensemble she wore to attend a screening of ‘The Woman Dress’. The film was a short, directed by Giada Colagrande, that was part of a series of films that explore women’s love affair with Miu Miu. Leighton’s Prada Spring/Summer 2012 dress was a divine choice for her shape, and an unexpected choice for a Miu Miu event.
The version she wore had a deeper plunge and an altered print to the runway version, but the lemon-coloured skirt was untouched. I think I actually prefer this bodice to the runway version.
For the beginning of Fashion Week, Leighton attended the amfAR New York Gala wearing a Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2012 dress. This dress was one of my favourites of the season, so I am ecstatic that Leighton ended up wearing it on the red carpet. Critics, however, seem to have quite a problem with her hair at this event.
A garment perhaps a little too fashion-forward for such soft, feminine curls? The Louis Vuitton sequined bag she carried was gorgeous, but I may have to agree, the hair and shoes weren’t as edgy as I would hope for with the styling of this dress.
On her way to Vera Wang’s show for Autumn/Winter 2012, Leighton wore a Stella McCartney A/W 2010 Coat, green printed Vera Wang V-Neck Dress, yellow Giuseppe Zanotti Cutout Suede Sandals, and the Bvlgari Serpenti handag. Street style at it’s best – the ‘girly curls’ really work here.

Due to the success of Ugly Betty, fashion and editorial-themed TV shows are now available on almost every network. This means that if I find myself excited about a needle in the sartorial haystack, it is probably worth a view or two.
The current needle? Jane by Design. Though I’ve yet to (have time to) settle down and watch an episode, the premise and lead actress both drew me in. Curly-haired newcomer Erica Dasher plays Jane – a high school student leading a double life as an assistant to Gray, aka Andie McDowell, a major fashion executive.
With competing lives as a high school student and a faux adult, Dasher said she fell in love with the “really bold character. She’s funny and passionate and clumsy and not popular and creative and girly. I could go on and on about her. She’s a really great character.” Erica also boats a very cute off-screen style that I expect will mark her as an upcoming fashion plate, a la Blair Waldorf‘s influence on Leighton Meester.
As far as any more incentives to watch? Rumour has it that Betsey Johnson will be making a special guest appearance in an upcoming episode!

Last night, Gossip Girl celebrated it’s 100th episode with a party at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. For once, I think both Leighton Meester and Blake Lively hit it out of the red-carpet-park.
Leighton wore an ecru Balmain strapless mini dress with a floaty skirt and great front-clasp details. Her Jimmy Choo sandals pulled the look together while keeping all eyes on the beautifully constructed dress.
Then we have Blake Lively in a bold dress from Marchesa Spring/Summer 2012. Elaborate embroidery and fringe presents the risk of looking overdressed, but works on Blake’s tall frame and easygoing beauty aesthetic. Paired with Lorraine Schwartz jewels and Versace’s crystal embellished platform d’Orsay sandals, she looked absolutely beautiful.
