  • It’s official! One of the greatest shows ever made, Absolutely Fabulous, is coming back! In the words of Joanna Lumley (aka Patsy Stone – a woman who hasn’t eaten since 1973), both lead characters are “very old and nearly dead and practically plugged into vodka machines”. Actress Jennifer Saunders (aka Edina Monsoon – born Edwina, but changed her name to Edina because it’s chic-er), who also writes the series, has confirmed that production had begun on three new specials that will feature Saffy, Bubble and many surprise guests: “Like a good bottle of Champagne, we hope that we have got better with time without losing any of our sparkle. Last week when we started filming in dear old west London, it was as if nothing had changed. It was raining. Nevertheless, we are so happy to be working for an audience that has grown just a tiny bit older like us but is still willing to let us fall over on TV in the name of P.R.”
  • Hermès has reported a 42 percent rise in net profits in the first half of this financial year. Nice.
  • Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week (better known as NYFW) starts in exactly one week. The event is once again partnering with Maybelline and YouTube to offer live online streams of over 30 runway shows at Lincoln Center. Today, coverage has kicked off from the Live from the Runway channel, and they will also be releasing backstage beauty insights, recaps, and trend forecasting.
  • Former reality TV star (The Hills and The City) and current fashion designer Whitney Port is making a move into the world of romantic comedies! She will star in the ensemble cast of “What To Expect When You’re Expecting” which is also made up of Cheryl Cole, Anna Kendrick, Cameron Diaz, Elizabeth Banks, Jennifer Lopez, Chase Crawford, and many more young stars!
  • Westfield Stratford is set to open on September 13th (just in time for London Fashion Week!) In their viral promo, they have wrapped up 100 years of fashion in 100 seconds and it is incredibly cute.

  • Artistic Colour Gloss
I have no time for traditional nail polish. In a hands-on career, a simple 30-minute application turns into daily touch ups, and the minute a nail is snagged on a zipper or pin it is all over.

Thankfully, I have just been introduced to the nail treatment favoured by the likes of J-Lo, Victoria Beckham, Beyonce, and Cameron Diaz – Tom Bachik’s Artistic Colour Gloss – an everlasting soak-off gel polish.

I went to Harrods‘ nail loft in Urban Retreat once I heard about the chip-free manicure that lasts 3 weeks. With 22 new shades just released for Fall/Winter 2011, I chose Artistic Colour Gloss’ white polish, shimmer coat and glitter tip from a total of their 66 colours (though hugely tempted by their new neon orange shade!)

Thanks to a lamp that cures the nail dry in 30 seconds, I was completely finished in 30 minutes total with not a smudge to be had. 3 weeks of flawless nail art for 30 minutes? Win. I think I’m addicted. View Post

Fashion's Night Out: The Show - Runway
From beginning to end, Fashion’s Night Out: The Show was an overwhelmingly amazing spectacle to experience, but when you have supers including Gisele Bündchen, Naomi Campbell, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Coco Rocha walking, that is clearly to be expected.

While many were waiting for the show to start on the runway, it really began on the city’s streets, as the models drove up on a Fashion’s Night Out branded bus! With a wave, the supers exited the bus, dressed in this year’s t-shirts and opened the show, accessorizing long skirts with the iconic Fashion’s Night Out t-shirts. What was quite possibly the fastest and largest scale show ever seemed like a total blur. Between 171 looks and over 150 models, the largest public runway show in NYC history was completed in about 10 minutes. Girls took to the circular runway, showing off a variety of different trends after the ‘Opening Act’: Fifties Flair, Tartan Twist, Pure At Heart, Weekend Wrap Up, Rock Chic, Go Global, and Jazz Age Cool.

For their second turn around the catwalk, models including Jourdan Dunn, Angela Lindvall, Chanel Iman, and Lily Donaldson came out dressed in long gowns, strutting to a live performance from Pharrell. After Naomi appeared in a gold Oscar de la Renta sparkly number (the same which Cameron Diaz wore recently), the show was over, and she lead girls back into the bus for a dance party style send off.

“The best part was seeing the faces who are not part of fashion, the people who’ve never been to a fashion show before. It was insane because we never see that. We were almost like rock stars on the runway. Especially when they saw girls like Gisele and Naomi.”

Afterward, in a rare moment, Gisele sat down to chat with André Leon Talley in her ball-gown.

“I had a blast and I think it’s so great all the girls came together to support something like this,” she said. “I’ve been a model for 15 years and I was so nervous! This was the longest runway I’ve ever done!”
