Fashion Collage
Closet Collage

2011 marks Tumblr‘s second year of sponsoring fashion and beauty bloggers to attend New York Fashion Week and cover it on their Tumblr-made blogs. The following twenty blogs are going to get access to front row and backstage opportunities 99% of industry insiders would kill for (AHEM hi!). To congratulate the bloggers (Annamarie, Closet Collage, Ellepa, Farpits, From Me To You, Gaws, Girl With Curves, High On Flowers, High Like Fashion, History of Chuck, How To Talk To Girls At Parties, Justin Chung, Karla Powell MUA, Men In This Town, Opium Poppies, Novh, Paper Tissue, Tuula, The Style Student, and We The Urban), I have taken five of their most striking fashion-realted images for this week’s Best of Tumblr!

Donna Karan Ad Lela

Donna Karan

J’adore Donna Karan. The label’s clothes are long-lasting – both in construction and style – and easily fall in line with all of your multiple fashion personalities. For my ad inspiration, I have taken Donna Karan’s ad style and a) cut it in half, their images can sometimes be spread too far to localize their latest design aesthetic, as well as b) highlighted the famous logo, which seems like an afterthought at times.

Thanks for checking out the latest Fashion Spot, and be sure to show some love to DKNY on Twitter!

Prada Covers Spring Summer 2011

Prada Spring/Summer 2011

Both collections from Prada and Gucci for Spring/Summer 2011 have been PRed heavily across the globe; you would have to be blind not to notice. Check out the media domination above and below. With five more designer-clad images put into the mix since the collages were made, Prada – at forty two covers – has one more cover than Gucci. Both were incredibly strong showings – which collection did you prefer?

Paradise Lost Dafne Cejas
If you haven’t heard, all of the world is now completely done with 2010. Poor year. Though your favourite fashion blog is less than a year old, I think it’s only right to share the best spread of the year with you. Looking back over hundreds of ‘favourites’, the shoot that really stood out was “Paradise Lost” from V Magazine #65. One of the many reasons I obsess over this spread is because the two ‘featured’ people are unbelievablly underrated. First we have model Dafne Cejas, a game-changer that has one of the most skilled and transformational portfolios of the decade. Then, the sensational Sebastian Faena; a photographer that can produce exquisite memories. The collaboration between the two produce images that are secretly sinister, with silhouettes that seem otherworldly. Beauty that isn’t thrown in your face is always chief.

P.S. Happy New Year! View Post
