Pier Paolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri are quite the dream team. The Valentino designers took risks this season, utilising what some would consider to be far too many flowers and far too much lace and embroidery. In fact, it was – as Goldilocks said – just right.
Of the ultra-fresh collection, Piccioli said “fashion is a dream, and in this moment we need dreams”. Especially dreams for Hollywood’s greatest, who can find a year worth of red-carpet dresses in their Spring/Summer 2012 collection.
Inspirations came from Georgia O’Keeffe, Tina Modotti, and photographs by Deborah Turbeville, which inspired me in turn. I am lusting beyond belief. Valentino hand-painted florals and inset lace into paper-thin leather, for chrissakes. They even used it on a trench-coat! Faint. View Post

How do you make a Jason Wu and Jourdan Dunn fan happy? Let Dunn make her first NYFW Fall/Winter 2011 appearance in the most incredible “Lady in Red” Fashion Week Moment so far. Then let her close the show. In a lace mask. Model squee. Other rah-rah-sis-boom-bah Wu-moments involved a mirrored runway that was properly prepped this time (I’m looking at you, Jason Wu Model Fall Palooza Spring/Summer 2010). The Michelle Obama favourite did not dissapoint; it was positively opulent, with use of over fifteen types of lace. There was an overwhelming sense of accessibility in juxtaposition with the extravagant. Top five looks are below! View Post
Two gorgeous Leighton Meester looks in one post; how lucky are you? Firstly we have her at the People’s Choice Awards yesterday wearing a Vionnet floral embroidered dress from their Spring/Summer 2011 line, with some go-to Brian Atwood pumps.
On the 4th of January, Meester was ice skating-slash-fulfilling her role as global ambassador for Herbal Essences while working her position as the new face of Missoni. She wore a printed dress with matching jacket by Missoni (obviously), plus her favorite Azzedine Alaïa lace-up ankle boots and a Proenza Schouler PS1 Keep All bag. In the accessory department, we’re spotting a Cathy Waterman yellow-gold and diamond Love ring, and two Bulgari rings, one of which benefits Save the Children (another sponsor of the event). Busy fashion for a busy starlet.
