  • Remember that that billion-dollar tax evasion lawsuit that fell on Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana earlier this year? Well, it is back with a vengeance. The Italian government have decided to overturn the case’s ruling.

The case alleges that Dolce, Gabbana and several other company executives didn’t pay the correct taxes when they sold their Italian brands to – their own – Luxembourg-based holding company, Gado Srl. This leaves each designer with roughly €416 million in taxes to pay; a debt which sparked Gabbana to break a 3-year silence over the case via Twitter, tweeting:

    “Ladri!!!” [thieves in Italian]
“They don’t know what to do to get money out of us.”
“It’s really true that in Italy they do what they want…as they please…Perhaps it would be best to leave…”

    …and more.

  • You good ole Americans – despite the current financial situation – turned out in record-breaking numbers for Black Friday. Over the weekend, you spent $52.4 billion, with $11.4 billion coming from Black Friday alone. The average shopper actually spent $398.62 over the single weekend, breaking all of 2010’s records.

  • LADRI! I mean….THIEVES! Following the european train theft of Marc Jacobs’ Spring/Summer 2012 collection, it has just been revealed that over $400,000 in Louis Vuitton goods have been stolen from the Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport near Paris.

The perpetrators? Apparently, “Ocean’s 69“, five masked robbers which were said to have “neutralized” a security guard and four employees on Friday, taking 10 pallets of Louis Vuitton loot.

Bad things happen in three, right? Dior need to keep their eyes open for this Marc Jacobs-crazed gang.

  • Pictures have finally been released of the “Twilight Wedding Dress“. As much as I’d like to turn my nose up…just look at it. Carolina Herrera. Gorgeous.

  • As I mentioned on Twitter, twenty-eight-year-old actress Felicity Jones (you may remember her from her role in this year’s “Like Crazy“) has been announced as the new spokesmodel for Dolce & Gabbana cosmetics. Her first ad will be for the brand’s forthcoming Kohl spring makeup collection, and will launch in January 2012.

  • Codie Young Topshop

  • Model Codie Young was accused of anorexia by ‘experts’ and journalists when overly-photoshopped images of her were released on Topshop‘s website. Codie has spoken up to dispel rumours. Why? “I’m one of those people that doesn’t take crap from anyone. I stand up for myself. I felt I shouldn’t just sit back and have someone say something about me that’s clearly not true, so that’s why I decided to do it. I just wanted to let people know it’s not OK to just call us anorexic. I mean, obviously I understand that people are going to have opinions of me because I’m a model, but it’s different to accuse someone of having a disease.”
  • Lily Allen is closing “Lucy in Disguise” – her store in Covent Garden. In August, she will be opening a new branch in a different area of London. When rumors spread that Lily’s business was struggling, she tweeted “If any other publication wants to write deliberately misleading articles about Lucy in Disguise, feel free, I WILL sue you.”
  • “What I love is this idea of a wardrobe. The idea that we’re establishing certain signatures and updating them, that a change in colour or fabric is enough. I do think that the world doesn’t need many more frivolous bits and bobs that end up left in cupboards or landfills.” – Phoebe Philo on Celine
  • Lil Wayne is planning on launching a clothing line called ‘Rebirth‘. Yes, like his album. “I just figure that I… I’m funky. I got that from my stylist, Marisa. I’m funky, like she say. I wear a whole buncha items at one time, you know what I mean? I be figuring you at least want one of them items. Like, ‘Damn, I’d love to have that safety pin he got on,’ you know what I mean? Anything. I got on these types of shoes, these shorts, this sweater… A year from now, I want all these items to be mine. Rebirth. I want—I just figure people want to be funky like me, so I got my clothing line.”

    Anja Rubic Sasha Knezevic

  • Models Anja Rubic and Sasha Knezevic got married on the Mediterranean island of Majorca. Anja wore a wedding dress-cum-minidress custom designed by Pucci designer Peter Dundas.
  • Fabio is selling half-inch pieces of his hair for $10,000 on Craigslist, along with a $500 ice cream scoop, a $4,000 tanning bed, $8,000 CD tower, and a $5,000 commemorative pizza stone. Great way to spend your allowance.
  • Vogue has a new secret website that will launch in December. No-one is revealing the content or plans for the site. Let’s hope for a sartorial social network!
  • Anna Wintour Webby
Anna Wintour accepted the award for Best Fashion Site at the 15th Annual Webby Awards. Her acceptance speech? “Sometimes geeks can be chic.”

Prada (you know, the epitome of Italian fashion brilliance) was looking to raise up to $2.6 billion through a Hong Kong IPO. Yet, when they launched the retail portion of the IPO on Sunday, they generated five times the expected demand. Duh. It’s Prada.

    – NBC’s newest reality show, “Fashion Star“, just hired Jessica Simpson as the contestants’ mentor. She joins host Elle MacPherson on the singing, dancing, live, runwayed extravaganza that will eventually reward an aspiring designer with the money to launch their own brand. Fans will also be able to purchase the winning designs online as each episode airs.

    – Last week, Kate Middleton stopped at Boots before a gala to buy some Nivea moisturiser. Expect to hunt like never before for your moisture now, Nivea users.

Kate Moss‘ bachelorette party went down as follows: 30 of her closest friends (including Daphne Guinness and Jade Jagger), two oversized pink Hummers, 120 bottles of booze of rum alone, and a trip to listen to the Foo Fighters. My kind of girl.

Bella Swan’s wedding dress confirmed! Kristen Stewart’s Twilight character will be getting married in a Carolina Herrera dress. No photos available as of yet.

    Lily Allen Fashion Line
Six months ago, Lily Allen and sister Sarah Owen opened a vintage shop to the name of “Lucy in Disguise” because ‘we love vintage and we’re not clothing designers‘. That didn’t last long. A stylish birdie has told us the duo are now launching an 18-piece RTW collection of vintage-inspired dresses with the assitance of LVMH menswear style director Nadia Jones.

The collection will be released in June, in Harvey Nichols for the the UK, Shopbop for the US, and at Lucy at Disguise both in store and online. Take a look at some of their pre-release sketches below! View Post

    Chanel PFW Runway Brad Kroenig
Chanel has done glaciers. Chanel has done lions. Now? Chanel has done the Jardin des Tuileries. Karl Lagerfeld definitely did some handywork on the Grand Palais to produce his enormous runway garden. We’re talking 80-piece orchestra, 85 looks, 5 minutes per walk enormous. The clothes were exquisite from the pastel tweeds to chic and fur-trimmed separates. It was the best collection I’ve ever seen from Chanel. As reported on Fashion TV, Inès de la Fressange made her celebrated return to Chanel and closed the show arm-in-arm with Lagerfeld. This was the holy grail, readers. View Post
