When laying in a window sill, it is important to remember to:
a) Wear heels. Especially if you’re short. It can be a big drop from the ledge.
b) Match those heels to a cardigan, ie. “Do not interrupt me. I am obviously intentionally cozy and have killer heels to protect that state”.
c) Bare some skin. Your legs could potentially get a trendy curtain-patterned tan.
…in stockings and sandy Louboutins! August 2011’s Vogue Paris cover is awesome, no? We have a Dominatrix-esque Lara Stone, photographed by Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, searching the skies next to a blue cadillac as a plane flies over her head. Princess Leia on the beach? Whatever the inspiration is…I love it.
I am starting to realize Britney Spears can do no wrong in my eyes. Even though many elements of her latest video – “I Wanna Go” – are eyebrow raise-inducing, the dark sense of humour and tongue in cheek references Britney The Brand more than redeem her.
What goes on? Cyborgs, a Mickey Mouse-ears wearing skeleton, Guillermo from Weeds seductively pouring milk over his body, an easter egg for “Crossroads 2: Cross Harder”, a Thriller eyeball homage, a paparazzi cuss-out, a quote from “Half Baked”, and a punked out Baby One More Time-esque schoolgirl outfit (with spiked Louboutins and studded Doc Martens!)
My confession of the day: I adore Leighton Meester. Her stylist, Logan Horne, knows just how to dress her and shares a dress sense just as fabulous as her Gossip Girl character Blair Waldorf, with a little spice and frivolity. From now on – in the inventively named ‘Leighton Meester Style‘ category – I will chronicle her wardrobe. I accept thank yous via Louboutins.
To kick this fashion diary off, we will take a look at Leighton’s appearance last night at the Gotham Independent Film Awards. With Thom Browne‘s new entrance into mass-market womenswear, she is the first big shot we have seen wearing one of his androgynous suits. She finished off her look with Salvatore Ferragamo pumps and Bulgari jewelry.
