Givenchy SS12
Riccardo Tisci is still atop his unshakeable pedestal. Though I risk sounding like a Sarah Jessica Parker movie by saying so…I don’t know how he does it.

Givenchy for Spring/Summer 2012 was incredible. As the show opened, Natalia Vodianova stepped out in a nude, sleveless, dropped-lapel jacket that demonstrated a merging of rigid tailoring and fluid movement that would encapsulate his entire collection.

Throughout the presentation there was a waterworld theme hinted softly in the craftsmanship. With his unparalleled skills, Tisci managed to create 3-d wave effects through tiers of ruffles. Genius. The embellishment of the season was seen in icy silver-blue sequins placed on one of his wave-like lapelled jackets with matching pants. The theme wasn’t overplayed, yet it penetrated every seam. That is what made the collection. View Post

  • I’m not sure if this is awesome or frightening, but scientists have apparently discovered a way to tan skin from the inside out. Though it’s still in the ‘baby stages’, an implant – the size of a grain of rice – has been developed that will stimulate melanin production when placed under the skin, giving a cancer-free glow. Seems much riskier than a tan from a bottle, but safer for those obsessed with tanning beds, since the effects last three months.
  • For New York Fashion Week, Marc Jacobs has pushed back his eponymous show from his usual Monday evening time slot to Thursday, September 15 at 8:30 p.m. Why? The delay “will allow Jacobs and his staff to make up for time lost this past weekend when the entire design and sample room staffs were scheduled to work before Hurricane Irene intervened”. The Marc by Marc Jacobs show has also been bumped up to Monday. This just might complicate editors’ flights from NYFW to LFW, which kicks off the following morning.
  • Models in movies news! With Natalia Vodianova’s co-starring role in Belle Du Seigneur creeping up upon us, we have just found out that Gemma Ward (who previously got Mermaid-y in Pirates of the Carribean) has been cast in Baz Luhrman’s “The Great Gatsby”. The film adaptation – of one of my favourite books – will also star Carey Mulligan, Tobey Maguire, and Leonardo DiCaprio.
  • In the strangest news of the day, Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld has decided to help film a rap video! Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) has reported the couturier recently rolled into into the legendary San Tropez cafe “Senequier” to film a segment of French recording artist Jean-Roch Pedri‘s latest music video. Though the song title is not yet known, we do know that Snoop Dogg is involved with its production and will also appear in the video. Looks like Kanye West‘s designer devotion and Diddy’s last fashion-filled album – Last Train To Paris – has started something of a trend.
  • Remember, back in March, when Kim Kardashian released her single “Jam (Turn It Up)“? (I know, I know, you tried to forget). Well, she shot a Hype Williams-directed music video to go along with it but didn’t get to the stage of public release. Until now. It’s tasteless and dirty-looking, in every sense of the word, with enough booty shots to set you up for life. As much as I try to celebrate the Kardashian empire for their coinciding business savvy, this is so, so inexplicably degrading.

  • Blair Waldorf
Gossip Girl’ started filming again, which means more Blair Waldorf wardrobe – and Leighton Meester – to lust over! The first public day of filming brought us Leighton in orange Brian Atwood ‘Maniac’ pumps, a citrus print Stella McCartney Spring/Summer 2011 skirt, bright yellow ruffled blouse, and an orange Riki Rosetta tote.

    Emma Watson Deathly Hallows Photocall
On Wednesday, Emma Watson attended the photocall for “Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2” at St Pancras station wearing a Rafael Lopez lace-and-tulle mini dress with a gold bodice. She paired the beauty with a black patent leather waistband and black Chanel pumps.

    Emma Watson Harry Potter Premiere
Emma again! This time at the world premiere of “Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2” in Trafalgar Square. Perfection in a full-skirted Oscar de la Renta ballgown? I think so. Miss Granger also wore jewellery from Boodles.

    Dita von Teese Alexis Mabille
Though she didn’t attend any shows, Dita von Teese showed up at the Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture Fall 2011 Closing Party hosted by Chambre Syndicale de la Couture at Trianon Palace. The regal and curvaceous burlesque star wore a beautiful gown by Alexis Mabille from Fall/Winter 2010 – the same dress Leighton Meester wore on last season’s final episode of Gossip Girl.

    Natalia Vodianova
Though the dress code is all-white for “The White Fairy Tale Love Ball“, hostess and supermodel Natalia Vodianovia always wears red. This year she showed up in an incredible Red Riding Hood-esque gown, custom designed by Valentino Garavani.

    Kate Middleton Yellow Dress
Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge touched down at Calgary Airport in Canada wearing a lemon-yellow silk crepe dress by Jenny Packham (a break from navy, woohoo!). She accessorized with her favourite L.K. Bennett pumps and a matching clutch.

    Kate Middleton BAFTA
For some reason, I never expected Kate Middleton to show up on a red carpet. That said, she wowed the crowds at last night’s BAFTA Brits To Watch Event, which was held at the Belasco Theatre in LA. She wore a princess-perfect lilac Alexander McQueen gown, silver Jimmy Choo “Vamp” glitter-finish sandals and matching clutch of the same designer.

    Mollie King Harry Potter
While I have never featured her before, Saturday‘s singer (and girlfriend to David Gandy) Mollie King truly impressed on the “Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2” red carpet. Wearing the “Peignoir” lingerie-inspired Spring/Summer 2011 dress by Julien Macdonald and Nicholas Kirkwood two-tone peep-toes, she was an envelope-pushing breath of fresh air.

    Zooey Deschanel BAFTA
Zooey Deschanel‘s uniform involves wearing tights on almost every red carpet, making it quite unusual to see her at the BAFTA Brits To Watch Event in a legs-baring Fall/Winter 2011 dress by Oscar de la Renta. The tea-length design and scalloped hem keeps her style ‘uniform’ consistent, and is beyond lovely on her.

    Natalia Vodianova Without Makeup

    Natalia Vodianova

To celebrate the launch of London’s Viva Model Agency, photographer Scott Trindle captured many a makeup-less beauty to compile this raw image set. We’re talking no styling whatsoever on women who’s livelihood depends on that very practice. It is a compelling and beautiful collection that features the likes of Natalia Vodianova, Maryna Linchuk, and Jessica Clarke. See more below, and at Vogue UK. View Post

    Bunny Tatler UK
Here we have Natalia Vodianova – the Bunny – on the cover of Tatler UK‘s May 2011 issue, as shot by Bruno Barbazan. With just less than a week until Easter, I hope this gets you hyped to prepare for a complete chocolate meltdown.
