Beyonce Wedding Dress

Beyonce in her wedding dress

  • Excuse me while I wipe away some salty, embarrassing tears. BeyoncĂ©‘s latest music video is one of my forever favourites. “I Was Here (Live at Roseland)” is essentially a montage of important and meaningful experiences in her life, and we even get to catch a look at Beyonce in her wedding dress (made by her mom, Tina Knowles) for the first time in almost four years. Watch…or I’ll cry again.

  • Thanks to Missoni, I’m sure, Target‘s third-quarter sales are up 3.4 percent.

  • For London Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2012, the official sponsor is changing from Canon to Vodafone UK.

  • Though it comes as no surprise, it is still a little sad to hear that Claridge’s (the London hotel) has let go of John Galliano in regards to his long-time affair designing their annual Christmas decorations. Thankfully, we can still look forward to something spectacular, as the job has been handed over to Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz. Anyone else hoping he shows up in a Santa suit for the press reveal?

  • Moda Operandi have wooed their way into another big-hitter’s staff resources! This week, Ashley Bryan (head of marketing and sales for Net-a-Porter in the US) has announced an immediate move to take on the role of Moda Operandi’s chief marketing officer. Fun fact: she is also the daughter of Anna Wintour’s longtime boyfriend, communications executive Shelby Bryan.

  • Costello Tagliapietra is going to release a diffusion line! For Spring/Summer 2012, new line “C&T” will offer 13 dresses that retail for $298 a piece.

  • This has made my weekend! After months of waiting to see something from the film adaptation of “The Great Gatsby“, we have a photo of Australian model Gemma Ward on the set! Gemma plays Catherine – the sister of Myrtle Wilson (Isla Fisher) – and looks picture perfect in pin curls and full ‘20s attire. The costumes are going to be out of this world; I can’t wait to see the ensembles of Carey Mulligan, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Tobey Maguire, as well.

  • Lauren Bush and David Lauren‘s wedding photos: revealed! Major, vintage-esque swoons over at Vogue.
  • Lana Del Rey Prabal Gurung

Lana Del Rey in Prabal Gurung

At the Q Awards, beautiful songstress Lana Del Rey was the recipient of the “Next Big Thing” award (which she is). Not super-fashiony news, I know, but LOOK at her Prabal Gurung Resort 2012 floral print dress! Dead. The white brogues add that perfect touch.

  • If you are at all aware of fashion on Twitter, you probably follow DKNY PR Girl. Though the ‘Twitter celebrity’ has kept her identity a secret (making us all woner, “Who is @DKNY?“), she has actually quietly revealed all!

Say hello to Aliza Licht, the Senior Vice President of Global Communications at Donna Karan International (via her video posted to Tumblr).

  • Karl Lagerfeld is launching a new line with Net-a-Porter! Seriously, when does he sleep? For a January 25th release date, the genius designer is creating “Karl“; a 100-piece women’s collection based heavily on denim and leather. A mens collection will follow for Autumn/Winter 2012.

Founder and executive chairman of Net-a-Porter, Natalie Massenet, said

“We believe in this collection based on Karl’s talent, his global appeal and the product itself. It’s a very strong, well-edited collection with a great mix of street attitude and timeless chic. It also is an entire wardrobe that mixes and matches well with itself.”

  • At Teen Vogue‘s “Fashion U” classes this past weekend, over 30 fashion industry heavyweights gave their guidance and regaled stories to a large group of young, wannabe name-to-knows. One very poignant note from the weekend? Proenza Schouler now “care less about what the critics [have to say] and more about the kids on blogs … their responses are pure, and instinctual”.

  • Up until now, my perfume collection has only consisted of spray fragrances or solid bar fragrances. Not too far from now, it may include “Swallowable Parfum“: a cosmetic tablet/pill (literally) that enables human skin to emit a genetically unique scent about who we are and how we perform our identities. Basically turning our skin into an atomizer.

I can’t lie…I really want to try this. Would you?

  • Net a Porter Live
Ever wanted to peek into the shopping carts of the rich and fabulous? Net-a-Porter is making it very, very possible.

With a widget called “World View“, the online shopping powerhouse has given everyone with internet access the ability to see what designer items are being bought, right as it happens.

If you want to hop from location to location, checking out the style selections of 14,000+ users at a time, I highly recommend a trip down their mesmerizing e-lane.

    Victoria Beckham Bags
…well, cheaper than we have seen thus far! While reports claim Victoria Beckham owns around 100 Birkin bags, she can now proudly add at least two of her own Birkin-looking pieces to her handbag collection. From what I have seen, Posh‘s new line has a very clear aesthetic, thanks in large part to former Luella and Marc by Marc Jacobs accessories design maven Katie Hillier.

After two of the styles from her new “24 hours in the life of Victoria” collection went on sale yesterday via Net-a-Porter, they both sold out in unbelievable time. The leather and nubuck shoulder bag sold out within the hour, and the hexagonal chain bag in crocodile sold out by the afternoon at a wallet-stetching $13,950. Don’t be afraid, the exclusive treasures are said to start at $1,800 and the full collection will be available later this month at Net-a-Porter Bergdorf’s, and Neiman’s LA.

    Chinti and Parker
About eighteen months ago, something very cozy crept onto the fashion scene. A label that sprung from the concept of clarity and conscience, two carbon-neutral designer cousins now use materials such as bamboo and seacel (a derivative of seaweed, I kid you not) to accent their versatile wardrobe staples. Who am I talking about? Chinti and Parker, of course.

Honestly? The cashmere reminds me of sugar-coated oatmeal. Everything is sensual in the most desirable and organic effect. Personal favourites coming to us for Spring/Summer 2011 include the perfect apres-ski cashmere pants, a relaxed cashmere sweater with Leeloo Minai Lekarariba Laminai Tchai Ekbat De Sebat hair-coloured elbow patches, and their dramatic hooded cape wrap. Shop them exclusively at Net-A-Porter and chintiandparker.com. View Post
