texture fashion
With Spring rearing its beautiful head, I am craving sheer everything right now. To start this look, we have the Eril Sheer Blouse With Exposed Back Detail; I love the fact that it has a quirky collar and a scooped hemline, as I don’t want this look to be too ‘lingerie’. Next, we have the pastel-packed Haniss chain print pencil skirt which ties straight into the collar of the blouse. By adding the Black Leather Tie Dye Shopper from Urban Outfitters, there are so many textures working in this look that no other accessories will be needed, and it matches both the chains and collar of Eril & Haniss.

Play around with the burnt pastel colours in the MAC Call Me Bubbles: Eye Shadow Quad and throw on some Bianta suede platform shoe bootsfor an East London vibe – and you’re good to go.

love wrap dress

“And your love is like peaches and cream,
Kinda like sugar, Kinda like spices,
Kinda like, like what you do,
Kinda sounds funny, but love, honey,
Honey, I love you.”
Express Ohio, “Yummy Yummy Yummy

I was feeling pretty sickly and exhausted this morning until I looked out of the window and saw empty streets frothing in a substantial amount of London snow. Don’t let my cheesy grin fool you…it was beyond chilly. I happened to be a little snow-stoned and stoked that my pink hairspray from the night before hadn’t completely vanished from my makeshift dip-dye.

What I Wore: Love’s Peach Satin Long-Sleeve Wrap dress from Inlovewithfashion, vintage Italian leather knee-high boots, and Colour FX Punk Pink Hairspray (layered on trademark unruly hair).

blonde hair

“From the hard time living ’til the Chelsea days,
From when her hair was sweet blonde ’til the day it turned grey
She said:
L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N.
You’ve got more than money and sense, my friend,
You’ve got heart and you go in your own way”
Noah And The Whale, ‘Life Goes On’

One of my favourite things in the world is unbrushed hair. Pairing it with a super-sharp blazer from Warehouse and a lime playsuit from a street stall in Bangkok? Not quite sure. I whip my hair, nonetheless.

citizens of humanity jeans

“She came back from California
Lost her way alone in Georgia
Found she wanted something more
Like what she did before
And then she stumbled back into me”
– “Skinny Jeans“, The Bigger Lights

I am not what you would call a ‘jeans girl‘. If you have read my book, you know that – for me – dresses make up 95% of my wardrobe. For this reason, I have found it incredibly surprising that I have fallen in love with Citizens of Humanity Avedon skinny jeans.

Practically, they should not work for me. As a petite, curvy woman with a very different frame to a sample-size model, skinny jeans usually don’t flatter my body type. The Avedons, however, have a luxuriously-textured denim with a flattering stretch that wraps around my curves without feeling like a jegging. My legs are praising the opportunity to stay warm (aka covered) this winter!

What I Wore – Thick, batwing sweater and Avedon skinny jeans.

coquet coquette

Coquet coquette, you know I won’t forget
How you kissed me strange to prove you were mythical
– “Coquet, Coquette“, Of Montreal

If there were ever a band designed to make you throw on something lacy and swing your hips around the office, it would be Of Montreal. I can never sit still when I put their music on (and I suggest you follow suit!).

What I Wore: Black peplum mini dress with lacy sleeves from China, black caged heels from Siam Square, a multi-string necklace of vintage pearls, and “16 Rouge Roxane” from YSL Rouge Pur Couture.
