Call me a broken record, but every time I go into Daniel Galvin for a little somethin’-somethin’ I leave with the immediate desire to conduct a blog lovefest.
As you may have guessed from the gratuitous selfie, I have recently experienced some hair sorcery in the form of the Daniel Galvin Gold Standard Blow-Dry. In conjunction with KeraStraight’s newest hair masks – the Protein Mask and the Moisture Mask – the treatment includes the application of one of the KeraStraight masks on shampooed hair, a rough blow-dry (the heat opens up hair follicles to allow the treatment to fully penetrate the hair), another hair wash with a head massage, and the bouncy blow-dry of your choice.
With both masks able to rebuild and rejuvenate hair while being aldehyde and formaldehyde free, this is a phenomenal alternative to the Brazilian blow dry. The number of good hair days I’ve had, post-treatment, says it all. Goodbye, frizzfest.

I am very fortunate that whatever stars needed to align to help my hard work pay off have done so, but I am often still surprised at the mind-blowing opportunities that end up coming my way.
Case in point: I just spent last Thursday at the London premiere for Iron Man 3 as Skype’s Red Carpet Presenter.
When I was asked to do so, I did the knee-jerk reaction e-mail check (is this a real email?) and then spent a few moments staring at my iPad before rocking a rather insane looking grin. (Sorry, everyone at Laduree in Covent Garden who had to witness that.)
I may be a print/digital journalist, but it has been a massive pipe dream of mine to segue into broadcast journalism. Thursday’s premiere was that elusive open door.
From the oh-so-unglamorous yet thoroughly entertaining press pen I got was able to canoodle with Drew Pearce, Samantha Barks, Don Cheadle, Sir Ben Kingsley, and – eventually – Iron Man himself, Mr. Robert Downey Jr.
The film is brilliant. My life is brilliant. You are brilliant. Thank you for all of your support, everyone.
(And thank you to Uber for getting me around town through all the prep, The Pretty Dress Company for the incredibly comfortable and beautiful ‘Atlanta’ dress, and Molly at Daniel Galvin for perfect red carpet hair which the gale-force winds refused to let me get a great photograph of!).
Daniel Galvin seems to be my go-to place for everything ‘hair’ in London. When I found out that the famous tress tamer was offering a deal for ‘Romantic Waves‘ at half price over Valentine’s Day I figured it would be crazy not to go. Because I was heading to the W Hotel in a Fenn Wright Manson (from John Lewis) masterpiece for a private screening of Amélie later in the evening, I asked the lovely Emma for a bit of a French twist on their classic ‘Romantic Waves’ and left the salon roughly one hour later with perfect Catherine Deneuve hair.
A great blow-out or hair set can be tough to come by in London, but my ‘Romantic Waves’ (above) fell out over three days in that beautiful, effortless Daniel Galvin way. Two thumbs (and a gallon of hairspray) up.
Note: their current promotion, a Mother’s Day pampering package with bubbles, is a phenomenal deal and can be used all the way until June 8th. (You don’t even have to be a mama!)
