udozi shopping app
I am a happy camper. A happy beauty-loaded camper. Earlier in the week I was invited to go on a mini shopping spree on behalf of Udozi. Though the app is still in Beta phase, Udozi is a shopping platform which helps people search for and find items that are nearest to them and available to purchase immediately. The app is currently being tested with a lot of boutiques in the London W1 area and, as a resident of the area, Udozi sent me off with £100 to see how I woud utilize the app.

Though my interest first piqued when finding out that Wolford was on the app, I decided to be practical and look for something I actually need: hair conditioner. Just a click later and I stumbled on the massive selection available at The Garden Pharmacy.

Rushing over to Covent Garden, I was truly surprised that I hadn’t discovered The Garden Pharmacy until that fateful Udozi-toting day: it is a beauty lover’s haven. Established in 1984, it is actually the longest-established store on Long Acre and one of the few truly independent businesses in the area. Being able to have a discovery experience that was both virtual and personal was a total Back To The Future moment. What did I need? Hair conditioner and a Korres lipbalm. What did I want? Everything else in the store.

Udozi – and the gorgeous shop assistants above – helped me come away with a perfect haul that included: a No Tangle brush (a million times better than a Tangle Teezer), Weleda Wild Rose deodorant (all natural, perfect scent), Philip Kingsley Elasticizer, Diorskin Nude foundation, Chanel Illusion d’Ombre eyeshadow in Emerveille, a nude Trind nail polish, and Korres lip butter in Wild Rose.

motilo competition

While I love hosting competitions for you guys (and have one coming up very soon), I also love to share great competitions that you may not have stumbled across already! One I am currently pining to win is the Motilo competition: you have a chance to win a £2000 shopping spree towards any items at the Motilo Shop!

That is essentially a free designer wardrobe. A very well-curated designer wardrobe. Alexander McQueen, Peter Pilotto, Givenchy, Jonathan Saunders, Marni…if I don’t win it, I definitely want one of my readers to!

In order to enter, all you have to do is follow @Motilo and @MrsMotilo on Twitter (and you can find more info here)!

The competition closes on the 13th of August, 2012. Good luck, mi amors!

Cynthia Rowley Glambulance

  • It’s Glambulance to the rescue! I’m talking the kind of rescue that even those without problems will covet. Fashion designer Cynthia Rowley has set it upon herself to give away MAJOR prizes to those of you with the best/most embarrassing wardrobe malfunctions. Got something that qualifies? Head to the Band Aid Facebook page and go to the “Fess Up” Contest to submit your fashion cringe moment and get the chance to win styling session as well as a $2,500 shopping spree at Cynthia Rowley! The Glambulance will also be out and about on Fashion’s Night Out on 5th Ave between Cartier and Ferragamo. Wink wink. ;)

  • Lady Gaga has announced her new persona is a “Nymph”. See: pale hair and make-up from the You and I video.

  • Taylor Lautner, of Twilight fame, has reportedly taken Elle’s Joe Zee (love him! love him!) as a style consultant. Looking forward to some refine Werewold styling on his upcoming Abduction press tour.

  • Azzaro has named a new creative director: Mathilde Castello Branco – previously at Lanvin, currently set to rock the industry.

  • Michael Kors will be launching a new “digital venture” next week. Called Destination Kors, the project will offer a mix of e-commerce and editorial content. Expectedly, to further brand his fashion empire.

  • The uber-talented former creative director at Sonia Rykiel, Gabrielle Griess, will launch her own fashion line at this season’s (Spring/Summer 2012) Paris Fashion Week.
  • Shopping Spree
Though I originally planned to give away a Mulberry Bayswater, I am actually much more excited for this:

    A Giveaway of $1000!

Since I wanted to provide a financial and worthwhile equivalent to the Bayswater, I didn’t want to substitute a bag for the sake of a bag. I thought – since She Said Style is a style guide and so much more – a shopping spree is something any and all of you would enjoy! We’re talking a lump sum for one lucky winner to spend in any online store, or collection of stores, as long as your total (shipping included) doesn’t exceed $1000.

To enter, you must purchase She Said Style. The e-mail address used to purchase the book will be checked if the winner is selected through any of the additional entry options.

For additional entries, each step you complete from the list below will earn an extra giveaway entry (as mentioned above, book purchase will be checked if an additional entry is selected):

    1. Become a fan of Lela London on Facebook (+1 entry).
    2. Sign up to Lela London’s mailing list (+1 entry).
    3. Leave a comment below telling me your favourite chapter of She Said Style (+1 entry).
    4. Tweet about the giveaway. Tweet must include ‘@lelalondon’. (+1 entry).
    5. Follow Lela London on Twitter (+1 entry).
    6. Link to the giveaway through your blog (+1 entry).

Giveaway ends August 1, 2011 at midnight PST. Open worldwide. If you are under 16, please ask your parents for permission to enter.

Thank you for your support! Fingers crossed!
