lfw outfit day 1
London Fashion Week Day One was, in true balls-to-the-wall spirit, the busiest day of the week for me. With virtually enough time to get dressed before hitting Somerset House, I ended up snapping my ‘Outfit of The Day’ after rolling home in the darkness. This top by Malene Oddershede Bach has to be one of the best things I have ever worn; functional, super luxe, and printed to perfection.

What I Wore:
Top, Malene Oddershede Bach (see stockists). Black skinny jeans, Firetrap. Necklace, Stella & Dot (similar here). Boots, Boohoo.

Here is the long and short of it: because I am going to be spending the next week strapped into jackets, stilettos, belts, and harnesses (who knows?), Fashion Week calls for a pretox of buttery soft fabrics and all-encompassing cosiness. Because these jeans have five high-waisted buttons, you can buy them larger and longer than you normally would for a relaxed Parisian fit that would otherwise be hard to keep over your hips. Lazy, make-up free outfit choices don’t have to equate to sweatpants, after all!

What I Wore: High-waisted supersoft Skinny Jeans from New Look, Union Jack scarf from Angelica London (similar here), fuschia cut-out shirt, neon green heels from Nelly.com.

“She came back from California
Lost her way alone in Georgia
Found she wanted something more
Like what she did before
And then she stumbled back into me”
– “Skinny Jeans“, The Bigger Lights

I am not what you would call a ‘jeans girl‘. If you have read my book, you know that – for me – dresses make up 95% of my wardrobe. For this reason, I have found it incredibly surprising that I have fallen in love with Citizens of Humanity Avedon skinny jeans.

Practically, they should not work for me. As a petite, curvy woman with a very different frame to a sample-size model, skinny jeans usually don’t flatter my body type. The Avedons, however, have a luxuriously-textured denim with a flattering stretch that wraps around my curves without feeling like a jegging. My legs are praising the opportunity to stay warm (aka covered) this winter!

What I Wore – Thick, batwing sweater and Avedon skinny jeans.
