Jessica Simpson is making bank. Retail sales of her fashion empire – currently shoes, accessories, outerwear, bathing suits, fragrance, and watches – totalled $750 million this year. “People look at her as a style icon,” explains Vince Camuto, the main licensee for Simpson-sold merchandise.
– Jessica Simpson Sportswear and Jeanswear are expected to do from $150 million to $200 million in retail sales within the next two years.
– The Jeanswear collection can be found in 650 department store doors, including Macy’s, Dillard’s, Belk, and Bon-Ton.
– Six hundred people once lined up to see Simpson make a personal appearance at Belk.
– Simpson’s net worth is estimated at $100 million.
– The latest addition to her empire – sportswear – is inspired by Isabel Marant, Theory, and Sportmax, but with a “younger” attitude.
Homegirl is – in at least one category – outperforming even Madonna.
For “Game On” in Vogue India, Iekeliene Stange gets caught in an incredible shoot styled by the one and only Manish Arora. What makes it so interesting is the subtlety of the sportswear. It’s just not at all distracting from the concept or lens of Diego Fuga. View Post
In response to the tragic suicides of gay teens who were bullied, people around the world took part in Spirit Day hoping to put a much-needed end to the harassment. Spearheaded by GLAAD, Spirit Day urged people to wear purple to raise awareness and show support for the young people who took their lives due to LGBT discrimination.
Now, I am inspired. While wearing a unified colour for one day won’t change the world, if you decide to take on something with personal meaning and incorporate small reminders into your life to trigger LGBT activism, you can really make a difference. I have created my capsule wardrobe as some sort of crazy sartorial inspiration. Feeling very Gok Wan here. View Post
Love Kenzo? Love Antonio Marras. This is someone who pulls of romanticism so well you would think he invented it. What I loved in particular was his use of sportswear shapes on a very gentle archetypes. Lingerie accents were so well made they safely steered clear of any raunchy undertones. He closed with white paper butterflies, a themed trick so precise it made me want to reach through my laptop. A very powdery and innocent collection. View Post
