Scarlett Johansson Sexy
For this month’s issue of Harpers Bazaar UK, the most delightful duo in fashion – designers Dolce and Gabbana – have shared their expertly cultivated tips of seduction. With one look at the Dolce & Gabbana make up ad above with the sex-sational Scarlett Johansson, you know couldn’t really find two men to give better advice.

If you didn’t get a chance to grab a copy of Harper’s, settle down for…

D&G’s top eight tips to seduction:

  • Perfect your underpinnings
Sexiness is a matter of wearing the right underwear. Dolce says, ‘When we dress the model for a show, first we give them the bra, the satin, the lace. It’s all about respect for the body. You never see a woman from the south of Italy without a bra. Never!
  • Always add a heel
A Dolce woman always has a heel. Dolce says, ‘For me, it is impossible to see a woman in flat shoes’.
  • Play with androgyny, but remember you’re a woman
This is about maintaining sensuality and romance, with something beautiful underneath – to reach that perfect balance of feminine and masculine. Gabanna says, ‘you don’t need to lose femininity by wearing a suit, the first thing I think is, “Is she wearing lace underwear?”.
  • Embrace underwear as outerwear
Since Madonna launched Dolce & Gabanna’s incredible corsetry two decades ago at the US premier of her movie ‘In Bed with Madonna, the designers’ greatest muse has shown the world the possibilities of the right bodice. Gabbana says, ‘If you wear a corset, you lose one size. It puts everything up and it’s perfect. It corrects the shape’.
  • Walk tall
It is all in the way a woman carries herself a la Linda, Naomi, Gisele, Claudia and Eva – the supers who queued up to appear in Dolce & Gabbana shows over the years. Dolce says, ‘When you dress, it isn’t just the body that’s important. It’s the balance of mind and body. Tutto en equilibre!’
  • Be revealing, but always with confidence
The pair are synonymous with provocative cocktail dresses, but their idea of baring flesh is not as simple as you may think. Dolce says, ‘It’s not about the skin, it’s the mind. It’s about confidence, but also subtlety. Again, the relationship between mind and body is what’s most important’.
  • A defining feature can be truly sexy
You don’t have to be perfect to be beautiful. Gabbana says, ‘Personally, I like women who are not perfect. For example, I love a woman with a real nose. A nose is character. Many women want to change their noses, but for me, I’m fascinated’.
  • Find what works for you and stick to it
It is about finding what suits you than what is on trend. Dolce says, ‘When a woman has her style, she knows how to choose what she likes, not what is trendy. When you love what you are wearing, the clothes are alive’.

Belle Vere Vogue Italia
Hell yes, Vogue Italia. This curve-packed cover of the fashion bible was shot by Steven Meisel, styled by Edward Enninful, and is the first VI cover to feature a plus sized model – let alone three – in over ten years. With a weight-blind first glance, I knew the sexiness of this cover would cause a riot. The only thing I would have changed is the food in the photo; I dislike finding food as an ever-present prop in almost every fuller-figured photo shoot, and feel it adds nothing here. Regardless, you’re doing the fashion world proud, Tara Lynn, Candice Huffine and Robyn Lawley. Minxes.

Burlesque Movie Fashion
Michael Kaplan did Flashdance, Blade Runner and Fight Club. Now, he continues his streak as costume designer extraordinaire by controlling the clothing of the much-awaited film, Burlesque. He told the LA Times, “I wouldn’t be doing my job if I was thinking about the effect of the movie on fashion. I do what I think is right for the character. I want them to look like they exist in the world.” Take a look at Christina Aguilera, Cher and some of the key costume moments below. View Post

Maria Francesca Pepe
One of my favourite moments of London Fashion Week S/S 2011 was previewing MariaFrancescaPepe‘s collection. Blending the lines between jewellery and apparel, her interchangeable collection is especially fabulous (even more so in person), exuding an edgy sexiness that still manages to remain ‘appropriate‘. Enjoy a look at the complete collection below, with all lookbook images taken during the preview back during Fashion Week. View Post

Emanuel Ungaro PFW Runway Bambi Northwood-Blyth
Giles Deacon is having one hell of a season, now adding an incredible first show with French label Emanuel Ungaro to his repertoire. At the Serre du Parc Andre Citroen in Paris’ 15th arrondissement, his maribou-trimmed collection was shown in an explosive garden setting that embodied all of Giles’ va-va-voom and tongue-in-cheek feminine predecession. Anna Dello Russo even got in on the action as a model; sharing the spotlight with a stuffed lamb (of the never-breathing variety) named Funbungo. I would go as far as saying the age of ‘Ungaro Unsure‘ is over. View Post
