Earlier this week I decided to embrace my natural curl and finger-wrap my damp hair before bed in the evening. The following morning I woke up looking like Shirley Temple. Forgoing my daily uniform of dresses (crazy curls + dresses + pale skin = every person I meet calling me a ‘doll’ or ‘Lolita’), I decided to balance it out by colour-blocking some peg trousers to my heels and throwing on some serious spikes.
What I Wore:
White ASOS premium slim peg trousers (similar here)
White heels from Christian Louboutin (similar here)
Boxy spiked denim shirt (similar here)
Unless you are a member of a scripted reality TV show that rhymes with ‘Wowie’, it is unlikely that you’re going to get a lot of use out of the New Years and Christmas party dresses you shelled out for less than a month ago. That is, of course, unless you style them down with more casual accessories.
As party dresses go, this long-sleeved House of Dereon leopard dress from BANK is a risky choice as it has a wide open back. To balance the skin on show, I chose to add a wooly hat, chunky wedges, and a gloriously sleepy hat-wearing puppy (optional).
Get The Look:
House of Dereon (Beyonce) leopard dress (on sale!)
Owl hat (similar)
Leather wedge ankle boots (similar)
Time for a little outfit post before weekend Christmas party chaos commences. For the sake of all that is festive, I couldn’t help but indulge in a few new goodies from Zalando after hours and hours of present scouring. With the addition of a tight black tee under the dress and coat (not pictured), the whole ensemble just about works for Winter. I should mention I also have the warmest legs in England.
(Click for more photos below, as well as a cameo appearance from my little blogger puppy, Waffles.)
What I Wore:
Paprika cocktail dress
Even&Odd beige wedges
Nice Things necklace (no longer online)
Les Néréides gold Le Parfum earrings
Anna Sui sunglasses (a present)
Here is the long and short of it: because I am going to be spending the next week strapped into jackets, stilettos, belts, and harnesses (who knows?), Fashion Week calls for a pretox of buttery soft fabrics and all-encompassing cosiness. Because these jeans have five high-waisted buttons, you can buy them larger and longer than you normally would for a relaxed Parisian fit that would otherwise be hard to keep over your hips. Lazy, make-up free outfit choices don’t have to equate to sweatpants, after all!
What I Wore: High-waisted supersoft Skinny Jeans from New Look, Union Jack scarf from Angelica London (similar here), fuschia cut-out shirt, neon green heels from Nelly.com.
I’m having a bit of a moment with Firetrap. I previewed their (very amazing) A/W 2012 collection last week, and have – reactively – spent the last few days in these red jeans. I’m not typically a denim girl, but found the “Evelyn” perfect for a high-low outfit mix.
What I Wore: Firetrap Evelyn in red, Primark lace cardigan, dipped white t-shirt, white Christian Louboutin platforms (similar here), and a Lulu Guinness Birdcage umbrella (below). Because London simply can’t go a day without crying on us.
