In Review: Marley Spoon

Let me introduce you to Marley Spoon with a bit of backstory on myself as a chef.

Until the past couple of years, I was a verifiable kitchen hater. Though I adored food and the science of cooking, my priorities didn’t lie with pots or pans. I was on a steady diet of raw food, simple salads, or extravagant meals out. Delicious but impractical for the long term.

As a recipe kit delivery service, I would have eaten Marley Spoon up with a…well…spoon.

Taking all the faff and guesswork out of meal prep, the Berlin-based company recently launched in the UK and their global menu (seven dishes which change every week) more than enticed me. While I am now an experimental chef, I am still earning my stripes and try to take on as many new recipes as I can. The Chiang Mai curried pork noodles & pan-fried haddock with jerusalem artichoke and beetroot glass noodles? Destined for my trial basket.

Two days after ordering, the market-fresh ingredients landed on my doorstep complete with detailed instructions and photography. Two perfect meals later, I became a total Marley Spoon convert.

While it would be an impractical expense for your everyday meals, the service is a fantastic investment for inexperienced chefs, cuisine curious individuals, party hosts, and wannabe wok-wielders alike.
