It hasn’t exactly been Coachella weather over here in ol’ Blighty. *rings out hair*
Thankfully, Motilo have been running an “Americana” (aka Coachella-perfect) competition on their site, and thus have TONS of summery inspiration floating around their mood boards. Crank up the heating, get in your feather headdress/bikini, and taa daa – it’s almost like you’re watching Kasabian in sunny California.
The mood board details:
J Brand – Atomic Denim Jacket
Spell – Warrior Feather Headband
Opening Ceremony – Striped Raffia Sandals
Jerome Dreyfuss – Momo Python, Suede And Karung Mini Shoulder Bag
Jemma Kidd – Rosy Glow Lip & Cheek Tint
Chanel – Le Vernis Nail Colour In Mimosa
cos – A-Line Wool Skirt (underneath)
Miu Miu – Faille Miniskirt
What’s all that, you ask? That is Kipling‘s brilliant collaboration with Silver Spoon Attire. Today, your friendly neighbourhood fashion blogger (…that’s me) went down to Selfridges to get one of Kipling’s new college-friendly bags customised in the best Vintage Americana embellishments you could think of.
After leaving my red “Erasto” in the talented hands of Damian Collins, I head back roughly 30 minutes later to the beauty below. My spacious carry-all was now donned with a pom-pom, two L’s in a Letterman-esque blue, tassles, star tacs, buttons and circle hoops! The “Erasto” has enough space for my stylist essentials and can even fit my netbook. Practical, and full of personality. Way to go, you two!
For their June 2011 issue, Harper’s Bazaar España pulled out all the stops – including Anna de Rijk – to create a grungey, Spring/Summer 2011-inspired Americana vibe. “Resaca Punk” delights under the incredible styling of Juan Cebrián (Miu Miu! Those cross heels!) and effective photography of Txema Yeste. View Post
For “Maximum Overdrive” in Elle Americana’s December issue, Terry Tsiolis is snapping some of Lester Garcia‘s best styling to date. While the pieces are quite eccentric, everything they have stuck on the beautiful Gwen Loos is on the right side of wearable. Finally a US heavyweight doesn’t play it safe and manages to pull it off Carrie Bradshaw style. Only took 12 months to get here, eh? View Post
Tommy Hilfiger‘s show rocked a “twisted country club” theme and celebrated Tommy’s 25th anniversary in the biz. Everything was very ‘preppy with a twist‘ – there was even a short tweed suit composed of patriotic colors (Peter Som is consulting for the brand, after all, and is known for his love of all things tweedy). The show essentially lit up New York Fashion Week with a cropped sparkling blazer with red bandeau top and red herringbone shorts. The accessories had oxfords and loafers as high-heel shoes, large square tote bags, classic-looking sunglasses, and chunky crystal jewelry. Viva Americana. View Post
