Jeremy Scott – in a week when many traditionally edgy designers toned down their crazy (see Rodarte) – flew his freak flag proudly at New York Fashion Week. Dresses fashioned from the detritus of New York life — to-go bags, crushed beer cans, meat products — were followed by studs in leather bondage gear and a bride strapped into a white leather straight jacket.
Fortunately, even those of us not appearing on Rolling Stone covers had looks to like: a punk princess black dress with beaded safety pins, technicolor prints on deconstructed tees, and accessories that bring art to the everyday (I loved the envelope clutch of those orange-and-white “Sorry, we’re closed” signs). Sure, tough times call for more practical fare, but they also call for a healthy dose of fun. And this collection certainly turned a front row of practiced frowns upside down. View Post
