This little bit of sun has got us all in true summer mode; we’re running out to roof gardens, booking our holidays and looking for the perfect swimwear. Thankfully, with the range of swimsuits, bikinis and tankinis already out on the market there are plenty of options to keep our credit cards busy and help us maintain that all-important holiday spirit.
This season’s swimwear is bursting with bright block colours, floral and dotted 1950’s-inspired styles, as well as fun and flirty romantic frills: all perfect for enhancing that summer glow and leaving you looking stylish and confident on that much deserved holiday. As designers become increasingly in tune with the trends and emulate Spring/Summer 2013 styles onto the swimwear market, there is also an array of cuts to choose from. Expect to find halter necks, bandeau’s, balconett styles and more (enough to flatter any shape or style, for those of you a little timid when it comes to baring it on the beach!).
To be fair, even though you can find swimwear to squeeze, to push up, and to flatter in all the right places, swimwear cannot – unfortunately – work miracles. In order to make the most of that brand new swimwear, I highly suggest making a few small changes to get yourself feeling and looking your best. Light preparation is all it takes to get your body prepared! Simply try cutting down on unhealthy foods, up the ante on the exercise regime, drink water, avoid alcohol and go crazy with the body exfoliator and moisturiser of your choice.
By the time summer comes around you will be entirely prepared to strut your stuff in style with a brand new, fabulously flattering bikini, tankini or swimsuit. Body proud.

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend virtually year-round…but not on holiday. If you ladies are planning on going abroad sometime soon it is important to get thinking of all those essentials that you’ll need to take with you to ensure that you make the most of your trip. At the moment, many of you will be considering an escape from the miserable British weather this winter (and who can blame you!) but as you start to plan what you’re going to take with you,it is easy for some of those must-have items to slip your mind. Never fear, Lela is here to act as a little reminder!
Summer has most definitely disappeared. As a result, all of the bikinis that once filled the shelves a couple of months ago are now well and truly gone. This can leave female winter jet setters with a few issues; one being that there is nothing there to remind them that they need to buy a bikini! Not to worry though, as our trusty friend The Internet is always there to provide us with all the sites we need to find that perfect bikini. A good place to start is by looking at the ladies swimwear from Swimwear365 as these provide a fantastic range of different swimwear pieces for you to choose from.
Whether you’re a big reader or not, those hours on the beach (as lovely as they are) can sometimes get a little boring, so it is always worthwhile to take a good book. Whether you enjoy losing yourself in the thrills of the Hunger Games or prefer a little bit of excitement with 50 Shades of Grey, literature provides a great deal of scope, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to find something to your liking.
I know a few of you may be raising your eyebrows with this one, but hear me out. The truth is, leaving them at home won’t ruin your holiday, but heels do have the magical power of making you feel better about yourself. One night you might stick on an outfit that you thought looked ‘just alright’ until you try it with a pair of heels and it suddenly looks a million times better. It’s always a good idea to take at least one pair, and if you don’t buy it right now, you’ll have to try it out and witness the results yourself.
Although you may not think it, taking your camera is always important. When you’re on holiday it is almost certain that you’re going to create memories which you just don’t want to forget. As much as you cringe at the thought of being caught getting up to no good when you’re abroad, still take a camera. Everybody’s friends at the beach.
Haters to the left. Miley Cyrus is once again using her star power to raise some dinero for a great cause: Get Ur Good On. Miss ‘Montana’ created the charity as something of a social network to encourage children to do ‘good’ in their community, and is now auctioning off her closet, then donating all of the proceeds to GUGO. Everything from her personal bikinis to accessories are available through the eBay auction, so be sure to take a look!
Shows like this are the reason my tears fall at night re: missing New York Fashion Week. With a live performance and original score by soulful John Forte setting the scene for her Spring 2010 collection, Nanette Lepore got inspired by watching fireworks over the Istanbul Strait and thus delivered luxe vacation-wear that seemed perfect attire for late-night dancing on the beach.
She opened her show with a short parade of vintage-style high-waist bikinis and proper one-pieces in neon coral and a vibrant floral pattern, thanks to a collaboration with Manhattan Beachwear. The rest of the presentation followed that cute, ladylike beat with numerous summer cocktail dresses (many built around a sweet wrap-around “apron skirt” silhouette). Also included were easy empire-waist evening dresses with flowing ruffles and volume, all in a pretty springtime palette of raspberry, tangerine, twig, moss, and watermelon accented by metallics. The accesories really wrapped it up into a bow with little chain-strap satchels from Nanette Lepore by Tab, and lavender and metallic pumps with block heels from Nanette Lepore by Tribeca Design footwear.
