Christian Siriano SS12
Though Christian Siriano is sometimes faulted for having “a lot of look” (thank you, Tim Gunn), the Project Runway alumni never hits a bad note in my book. This season, the talented designer was inspired by sea creatures – he employed clusters of chiffon ruffles to mimic barnacles and strung oceanic chartreuse hues throughout heavier pieces. It’s easy to see that when Siriano wants to do chartreuse, he does chartreuse.

What was especially interesting about his Spring/Summer 2012 collection was that with the drama (overwhelming organza, unrestrained tulle, drastic eveningwear) came dialed down power pieces (pleated maxiskirts, striped tees, palazzo pants). The perspective wasn’t as streamlined as many editor’s would prefer, but damn, this man can create extraordinary beauty like few others. View Post

Project Runway Apply
Since I don’t have the resources to give you $100,000 and a show at New York Fashion Week, I am going to have to urge you to apply for Project Runway. Yes, you, Future Fashion Designer! Follow in the footsteps of Christian Siriano by appyling for Season 9 of the hit show, and be sure to say hello to Tim Gunn for me.

Christian Siriano Fall Winter 2011
I just melt when I see black that isn’t boring. Christian Siriano pulled this off primarily with luxe textures and structures with outstanding tailoring and detailing. Siriano is a master of ‘fantasy wear‘ (not in the creepy LARPing way), and did not let us down with the injection of his killer heels from the long-standing Christian Siriano x Payless collaboration. This is a collection for the fashion risktakers ie. January Jones, Emmy Rossum and Leighton Meester. The top five looks are below! View Post

Christian Siriano New York Fashion Week Runway
Christian Siriano wins day one of New York Fashion Week with a collection inspired by the rich cultures of Africa, India, and China. He may be a “Project Runway” kid, but – at twenty-four years old – he has all the fashion editors in the bag.

There were the ruffles we know he loves thrown on everything that wasn’t business chic, but my pick was a dramatic strapless buff evening dress with a sparkling embellished belt and huge billowing tulle ruffles reminiscent of the best Monique Lhuillier wedding gowns. The finale dress obviously the icing on the cake with volume, balloon hems, and gargantuan, asymmetrically draped tulle clouds with rough raw edges. View Post
