Zee Nunes Shirley Mallmann
While model-on-white can be incredibly boring, photographer Zee Nunes has managed to ‘capture the light’ (ooh, the light!) so well that the photos on offer for the November 2011 issue of Harper’s Bazaar Brasil have become extraordinarily dynamic. Thanks, in large part, to the fashion styling of Renata Correa, I simply can’t take my eyes off of Shirley Mallmann. Fashion power. View Post

Girl Panic Duran Duran

The Supers as Duran Duran

I KNOW! THE COVER EXCITES ME, TOO!

Caps over. Still excited. For yers, there was no expectation in my mind – whatsoever – that Naomi Campbell, Eva Herzigova, Cindy Crawford, Helena Christensen and Yasmin Le Bon would ever end up in a photoshoot together. Amazingly, years past the ‘supermodel era’, Harper’s Bazaar UK have them on the cover!

The nineties legends are posing to promote the upcoming debut of Duran Duran‘s music video for “Girl Panic” in which the five supermodels have been cast as the actual band (not such a stretch, as Yasmin is married to Duran Duran frontman Simon Le Bon).

Girl Panic‘s director, Jonas Akerlund (best recognised for his direction in Lady Gaga’s videos for Paparazzi and Telephone), also shot the spread, hinting that the whole enchilada is going to be exceptionally fashion-packed.

Sneak peak below! Official release Tuesday.

Scarlett Johansson Sexy
For this month’s issue of Harpers Bazaar UK, the most delightful duo in fashion – designers Dolce and Gabbana – have shared their expertly cultivated tips of seduction. With one look at the Dolce & Gabbana make up ad above with the sex-sational Scarlett Johansson, you know couldn’t really find two men to give better advice.

If you didn’t get a chance to grab a copy of Harper’s, settle down for…

D&G’s top eight tips to seduction:

  • Perfect your underpinnings
Sexiness is a matter of wearing the right underwear. Dolce says, ‘When we dress the model for a show, first we give them the bra, the satin, the lace. It’s all about respect for the body. You never see a woman from the south of Italy without a bra. Never!
  • Always add a heel
A Dolce woman always has a heel. Dolce says, ‘For me, it is impossible to see a woman in flat shoes’.
  • Play with androgyny, but remember you’re a woman
This is about maintaining sensuality and romance, with something beautiful underneath – to reach that perfect balance of feminine and masculine. Gabanna says, ‘you don’t need to lose femininity by wearing a suit, the first thing I think is, “Is she wearing lace underwear?”.
  • Embrace underwear as outerwear
Since Madonna launched Dolce & Gabanna’s incredible corsetry two decades ago at the US premier of her movie ‘In Bed with Madonna, the designers’ greatest muse has shown the world the possibilities of the right bodice. Gabbana says, ‘If you wear a corset, you lose one size. It puts everything up and it’s perfect. It corrects the shape’.
  • Walk tall
It is all in the way a woman carries herself a la Linda, Naomi, Gisele, Claudia and Eva – the supers who queued up to appear in Dolce & Gabbana shows over the years. Dolce says, ‘When you dress, it isn’t just the body that’s important. It’s the balance of mind and body. Tutto en equilibre!’
  • Be revealing, but always with confidence
The pair are synonymous with provocative cocktail dresses, but their idea of baring flesh is not as simple as you may think. Dolce says, ‘It’s not about the skin, it’s the mind. It’s about confidence, but also subtlety. Again, the relationship between mind and body is what’s most important’.
  • A defining feature can be truly sexy
You don’t have to be perfect to be beautiful. Gabbana says, ‘Personally, I like women who are not perfect. For example, I love a woman with a real nose. A nose is character. Many women want to change their noses, but for me, I’m fascinated’.
  • Find what works for you and stick to it
It is about finding what suits you than what is on trend. Dolce says, ‘When a woman has her style, she knows how to choose what she likes, not what is trendy. When you love what you are wearing, the clothes are alive’.

Resaca Punk Harpers Bazaar
For their June 2011 issue, Harper’s Bazaar España pulled out all the stops – including Anna de Rijk – to create a grungey, Spring/Summer 2011-inspired Americana vibe. “Resaca Punk” delights under the incredible styling of Juan Cebrián (Miu Miu! Those cross heels!) and effective photography of Txema Yeste. View Post
