Oscar de la Renta ss12
While most fashion shows build to a sort of crescendo of the biggest and most intricate pieces, Oscar de la Renta kicked things off dramatically for his Spring/Summer 2012 collection with enormous, silk taffeta ball gowns. The show was more energetic than I’ve seen from Oscar’s past few seasons, yet somehow he still accounted for his popular ladies-who-lunch fanset.

The eveningwear was – as always – better than anything I could predict. Though I always review Fashion Week shows with my top five looks, I was close to sharing the entire collection. Fur, sequins, gold lame, more and more taffeta; I gasped when Lindsey Wixson came out in a barely-pink silk chiffon, ostrich feather gown – the movement was unreal. The edgy vibe to his glamorous showing was also hitched up unexpected soundtrack from Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd.

(I also thought this would be the perfect opportunity to include a video of Oscar de la Renta serenading Sarah Jessica Parker at Fashion’s Night Out NYC. Cutest thing ever.) View Post

Blair Waldorf
Gossip Girl’ started filming again, which means more Blair Waldorf wardrobe – and Leighton Meester – to lust over! The first public day of filming brought us Leighton in orange Brian Atwood ‘Maniac’ pumps, a citrus print Stella McCartney Spring/Summer 2011 skirt, bright yellow ruffled blouse, and an orange Riki Rosetta tote.

Emma Watson Deathly Hallows Photocall
On Wednesday, Emma Watson attended the photocall for “Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2” at St Pancras station wearing a Rafael Lopez lace-and-tulle mini dress with a gold bodice. She paired the beauty with a black patent leather waistband and black Chanel pumps.

Emma Watson Harry Potter Premiere
Emma again! This time at the world premiere of “Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2” in Trafalgar Square. Perfection in a full-skirted Oscar de la Renta ballgown? I think so. Miss Granger also wore jewellery from Boodles.

Dita von Teese Alexis Mabille
Though she didn’t attend any shows, Dita von Teese showed up at the Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture Fall 2011 Closing Party hosted by Chambre Syndicale de la Couture at Trianon Palace. The regal and curvaceous burlesque star wore a beautiful gown by Alexis Mabille from Fall/Winter 2010 – the same dress Leighton Meester wore on last season’s final episode of Gossip Girl.

Natalia Vodianova
Though the dress code is all-white for “The White Fairy Tale Love Ball“, hostess and supermodel Natalia Vodianovia always wears red. This year she showed up in an incredible Red Riding Hood-esque gown, custom designed by Valentino Garavani.

Kate Middleton Yellow Dress
Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge touched down at Calgary Airport in Canada wearing a lemon-yellow silk crepe dress by Jenny Packham (a break from navy, woohoo!). She accessorized with her favourite L.K. Bennett pumps and a matching clutch.

Kate Middleton BAFTA
For some reason, I never expected Kate Middleton to show up on a red carpet. That said, she wowed the crowds at last night’s BAFTA Brits To Watch Event, which was held at the Belasco Theatre in LA. She wore a princess-perfect lilac Alexander McQueen gown, silver Jimmy Choo “Vamp” glitter-finish sandals and matching clutch of the same designer.

Mollie King Harry Potter
While I have never featured her before, Saturday‘s singer (and girlfriend to David Gandy) Mollie King truly impressed on the “Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2” red carpet. Wearing the “Peignoir” lingerie-inspired Spring/Summer 2011 dress by Julien Macdonald and Nicholas Kirkwood two-tone peep-toes, she was an envelope-pushing breath of fresh air.

Zooey Deschanel BAFTA
Zooey Deschanel‘s uniform involves wearing tights on almost every red carpet, making it quite unusual to see her at the BAFTA Brits To Watch Event in a legs-baring Fall/Winter 2011 dress by Oscar de la Renta. The tea-length design and scalloped hem keeps her style ‘uniform’ consistent, and is beyond lovely on her.

Cannes Rachel McAdams Marchesa

Rachel McAdams

Today was the last official day of the Cannes International Film Festival. You know what that means, don’t you? A red carpet report, of course! With over a week of the most well-dressed and stunningly beautiful women of the world congregating in the South of France, I present you with the 12 of the most excellent ensembles.

Our personal favourite has to go to Rachel McAdams at the 2011 “Midnight In Paris” premiere, wearing a red silk organza and tulle Marchesa Fall/Winter 2011 gown. Tres unique romanticism. See the rest of the best below.

Cheryl Cole X Factor
Cheryl Cole trotted along to the first round of auditions for “The X Factor” yesterday at the Galen Center in LA wearing this…ensemble. The majority of critics hate it.

My stance? When you wear an Oscar de la Renta ruffled silk top and Diane von Furstenberg Simca stretch-cotton pants together, you have a perfect presentation for entrance into the US market. On top of that, wearing such bold colour-blocking puts her Yankee Fashion Icon image aspirations in full gear. With the addition of the patent leather belt from Burberry Prorsum, it all felt very right, very Charlie’s Angels 2011.

That said, the electric shock hair turns it into a costume. What a poor styling choice for such a career-defining moment. This ‘look’ will be seen by millions, this will be her first impression. Looking like an extra in The Lion King. Fire your stylist, gorgeous woman. Your X Factor UK style is flawless.

Lara Stone One of a Kind
Every fashionista dreams of spending a day in couture pieces by Jean Paul Gaultier, Armani Prive, Givenchy, Chanel, Dior, Francesco Scognamiglio, Atelier Versace, Valentino and Oscar de la Renta. Lara Stone is the “One of a Kind” model who got to do so with help from stylist Alex White, photographer Craig McDean, and the wonderful W magazine. View Post
