Erjona Ala

If there was one model that made a big impression on me during fashion week, it had to be Erjona Ala. The 16 year old Norwegian Ford model managed to walk a whopping 64 shows for Spring/Summer 2012 – more than any other newcomer, by far (the full show breakdown is below).

On top of that, she is a truly lovely girl, with an interesting dichotomy between her presence and her age. An androgynous type of Veronica Lake beauty, who became a model simply because she “wanted to try”. Her youth is endearingly apparent in interviews, as she quotes her ‘all time style icon‘ as Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, her musical tastes as Beyonce (meeting B is Erjona’s biggest dream) and Taylor Swift, and favourite movie as Twilight.

I can’t wait to see where her career takes her as she matures.

Leighton Meester The Oranges
From Canada back down to the good old USA, there is a whole lot of great fashion being worn by our beloved Leighton Meester. Starting off at the 2011 Toronto Film Festival, she was out to promote her new movie – “The Oranges” in a gorgeous white, eyelet Alexander McQueen Resort 2012 dress. She used McQueen from head to toe with a gold-accented white box clutch as well as animal print pumps. To emphasise her waist, she also threw on a large leather belt.

After that, lovely Leighton made her way to The Variety Studio at Holt Renfrew (again, at the Toronto Film Festival 2011). This time, she chose to wear an aquamarine and navy look from Resort 2012 by Louis Vuitton; in fact, it was the same look that Arizona Muse – my obsession – modeled for the collection. The pleated dress was layered underneath the black “Carlitta” jacket from Nonoo and plenty of colourful bracelets on both wrists. She then added a youthful flair with pair of pink and tan wedges from Pierre Hardy.

Leighton Meester Gossip Girl
Lastly, Meester returned to New York to film new episodes as Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl. In what is definitely the most extravagant look of the three, she wore a silk Moschino Cheap & Chic lemon-print blouse, a nude Spring/Summer 2011 skirt by Carlos Miele Spring/Summer 2011, and blouse-matching Loeffler Randall criss-cross Sandals.

Carlos Miele Runway NYFW
Carlos Miele‘s New York Fashion Week show was inspired by the fragility of butterflies and Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall,” the samba version, that is, performed by fellow Brazilian Bebel Gilberto. Somehow, I see it. Miele is huge for red-carpet value, always pulling out very sexy and glamorous pieces that hug curves and display camera-loving detailing. This season, he did sheer in the most perfect way and supported Ivanka Trump‘s jewelry by throwing in some of her rose-gold and cut-crystal necklaces. The wow piece was a one-shoulder black tulle gown that showcased Miele’s talent for hand-detailing via geometric spidery stitching and draped loops of fabric. Hubba hubba. View Post
