This week, I previewed Jigsaw‘s irreverent Autumn/Winter 2012 collection. Now 30 years in business, Jigsaw have perfected the balance of an aesthetic that combines country living and quirkiness. This collection is filled with unexpected detailing while still being functional and luxuriously practical. Think Kate Middleton at a Gatsby party.
To be backstage at Nicole Farhi is a beautiful thing. Getting a sneak peek and uber-close look at her Autumn/Winter 2012 collection was an absolute dream. With mustard, grey, and gold on the mind, Madame Farhi managed to balance the sensibly pristine with a dash of sequins. Minimal magic and new-age embellishments on classic pieced? Be still, my heart.
Though the models rocked pale foundation and blue lips, Bora Aksu’s collection was anything but frosty. The Turkish-born designer has a knack for taking fashion out of its comfort zone and displaying ornate detail on soft and feminine materials. This season gave a lot of white, pink, grey, and a whole lot of lace. A sensual juxtaposition of light and dark. If you love the idea of “Erdem meets Mary Katrantzou”, Aksu is your guy.
I was really surprised by Felder Felder this season. Known for their definitively dark presentations, the flaxen-haired duo gave us “Blonde” – a collection that appealed to a versatile, more contemporary buyer. The colours ranged from golds, to oranges, to impressively dark prints; dare I say there was a real Rodarte feel to the collection. This was a collection that any woman could create a capsule wardrobe from, and I am never one to complain about that. View Post
Does anyone remember when Lauren Santo Domingo tweeted about shooting Coco Rocha and James Conran for a Vogue feature back in July? As it turns out, the project was a brand new adventure called “APT with LSD” and Coco has been honored as the owner of Apartment One. Model and husband opened their home to the magazine for a sneak peek at their decorative apartment and its memorable features.
It is a great shoot that captures her Rimmel heavy makeup wardrobe, a limited look at her custom designed closet, a piggy bank that looks like a YSL bag, a DIY project that originated from a street find, and details about Steven Meisel‘s wedding present for Coco – a portrait of the model – by the artist. Take a look! View Post
The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is somewhat of a cultural phenomenon, even in countries where the stores don’t exist. While the show won’t premiere until November 30th on CBS (US), a sneak peek of the costume sketches have already been revealed.
The two sketches show a model in a long hooded purple boxing robe with flames shooting up the hem and the cheeky play-on-words “Knock Out” scribbled on the back. The other ensemble includes a plaid bra and knicker set worn with a sculptural waistcoat accented by puffed out shoulders and hips. I cannot wait for the infamous wings and more seductive fashion moments from Adriana Lima, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Candice Swanepoel, Chanel Iman, and the rest of the beauties.
Nicholas Kirkwood is launching a space within On Peddar At Joyce – a popular accessories store in Hong Kong – this week. While there he gave a sneak peek of a collection inspired by deceased grafitti artist Keith Haring. The collection includes 12 styles, including Kirkwood’s first pair of flats and they will launch in February 2011. Save your pennies because the previews are sick.
