As much as I would love to go on a designer shopping spree whenever a special occasion rolled around, I couldn’t quite face the guilt when I know how easy it is to hire designer dresses. As the host of a rather important fashion talk earlier in the week, nothing seemed more perfect for the event than this Temperley London hand-stitched knockout. The detail is absolutely incredible and for something so va-va-voom on paper, the silhouette was comfortably modest.
Power dressing of the sparkly variety.
What I Wore:
Temperley London sequin dress, Wish Want Wear. Pien Mien necklace, Taara.
If there was one model that made a big impression on me during fashion week, it had to be Erjona Ala. The 16 year old Norwegian Ford model managed to walk a whopping 64 shows for Spring/Summer 2012 – more than any other newcomer, by far (the full show breakdown is below).
On top of that, she is a truly lovely girl, with an interesting dichotomy between her presence and her age. An androgynous type of Veronica Lake beauty, who became a model simply because she “wanted to try”. Her youth is endearingly apparent in interviews, as she quotes her ‘all time style icon‘ as Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, her musical tastes as Beyonce (meeting B is Erjona’s biggest dream) and Taylor Swift, and favourite movie as Twilight.
I can’t wait to see where her career takes her as she matures.
In the halls of the British Museum, Alice Temperley took my reservations of Temperley London and turned them to dimensional fandom. While her designs have always been excellent, the one-note themes have kept them contained. Thanks to a bevy of detailed cocktail dresses and red-carpet rulers, these are destined to be award show commodities. There was simply nothing left to be desired. See the top five looks below!
