Karl Lagerfeld has canceled the Paris runway show for his signature collection and will instead set up a new ready-to-wear collection for the Web.
I can’t for the life of me understand why Lagerfeld would scale back like this. He’s the only man who’s not afraid of eight-ton lions or speaking his mind. He is said to want to pour “his creativity into his new collection, based on the idea of ‘mass elitism’.” The idea of “masstige“, or mass prestige, is something that Lagerfeld has been toying around with since he collaborated with H&M on a diffusion collection in 2004. No word on pricepoints changing (…they won’t).
