Though I have only seen three episodes so far, I am becoming slightly addicted to new TV show “Pan Am“. One of many reasons why? The fashion, of course.
On top of strong female characters and intriguing (yet just about believable) plotlines, the production quality and costume department have obviously both been working overtime. It is a visual feast. Hopefully, my three Pan Am-inspired looks will be, as well!

This week, we have some seasonally appropriate choices for Leighton Meester Style – Gossip Girl was filming winter NYC scenes!
On the first day, Miss Meester wore a lovely, belted Diane von Furstenberg ‘Mikhaila’ wool coat, the striking orange Loewe ‘Amazona’ satchel, DKNY floral tights, Badgley Mischka satin pumps, and a soft cream-coloured scarf. Transitioning away from headbands, her character also seems to be on a hat-wearing track…
…that continued through to her next ensemble! The succeeding day of shooting, Leighton Meester and Penn Badgley were spotted filming new scenes together. On this occasion, she wore a covetable Gryphon olive-green cape, a flared Alice + Olivia ‘Oshi’ boucle skirt, burgundy Miu Miu Mary Jane pumps, and a mustard necktie blouse to match her Fendi ‘Peekaboo’ bag. A MUST.
From Canada back down to the good old USA, there is a whole lot of great fashion being worn by our beloved Leighton Meester. Starting off at the 2011 Toronto Film Festival, she was out to promote her new movie – “The Oranges” in a gorgeous white, eyelet Alexander McQueen Resort 2012 dress. She used McQueen from head to toe with a gold-accented white box clutch as well as animal print pumps. To emphasise her waist, she also threw on a large leather belt.
After that, lovely Leighton made her way to The Variety Studio at Holt Renfrew (again, at the Toronto Film Festival 2011). This time, she chose to wear an aquamarine and navy look from Resort 2012 by Louis Vuitton; in fact, it was the same look that Arizona Muse – my obsession – modeled for the collection. The pleated dress was layered underneath the black “Carlitta” jacket from Nonoo and plenty of colourful bracelets on both wrists. She then added a youthful flair with pair of pink and tan wedges from Pierre Hardy.
Lastly, Meester returned to New York to film new episodes as Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl. In what is definitely the most extravagant look of the three, she wore a silk Moschino Cheap & Chic lemon-print blouse, a nude Spring/Summer 2011 skirt by Carlos Miele Spring/Summer 2011, and blouse-matching Loeffler Randall criss-cross Sandals.
If you have yet to hear of Macy’s “Impulse” department, you will soon find it’s hype inescapable. Why? Karl Lagerfeld has designed a capsule collection for them (no really, I’m serious)!
With a campaign full of Coco Rocha goodness – shot in Lagerfeld’s library in Paris – the 45 piece collection (priced between $50 and $170) is sure to fly off the racks. Karl said:
“To me Macy’s is the perfect department store in the US where everybody can find what they’re looking for without ruining their budget.”
With that said, when it comes to designer collaborations, we can’t all afford to buy one of everything, can we? For that reason, I have curated a list of the ten best pieces from the collections – the ones that scream “Chanel”.
1. Dress, $124
2. Blush dress, $99
3. Ruffled dress, $119
4. Collared dress, $139
5. Brown jacket, $119
6. Scarf, $49
7. Leather short, $79
8. Tweed dress, $129
9. Belted tweed jacket, $169
10. White blouse, $99
The collection goes on sale at 235 Macy’s across America and on macys.com on August 31.
Upon first glance, I thought Jennifer Aniston was having a very peculiar day out. Then, I came to realise the above photo was actually of Nicole Kidman. Turns out throwing on some blonde dye, 30 pounds of make-up, and an updated version of “The Rachel” can be quite confusing for a Kidman fan. Though the make-over has been constructed while she’s filming “The Paperboy”, this might be my favourite hair hue of hers. I hope she keeps it, but loses the hairspray/flat iron.
And then there was Kate. Kate Bosworth to be exact. Last night, she attended a Coldplay concert (strange – as she was rumoured to be Gwyneth Paltrow‘s “other woman” a while back) wearing a gorgeous Misssoni blouse, and debuting a new dip-dyed teal hairstyle. The Tumblr babies are going to love this one.
