As the latest season of Gossip Girl continues with filming, I am looking forward to seeing more and more of Blair Waldorf‘s stylishly prim ensembles before they hit the small screen. THe latest look (seen above) was comprised of a nude Moschino ruffle pearl tweed jacket, an Alberta Ferretti embellished neck-tie chiffon dress, Roger Vivier platform court heels, and the all-important Marc Jacobs quilted handbag.
My favourite look of the week, however, comes from Leighton Meester when she attended the “HTC Serves Up NYC” product launch event at the Highline Stages in New York City.
Not only did Leighton wear the very first red carpet appearance of Marios Schwab‘s Resort 2012 collection (the long-sleeved black dress with the aquatic graphic-print skirt), but she also wore the Burberry Prorsum Resort 2012 tribal heels that showed up on the runway at London Fashion Week just this past Monday! Oh, closet lust, you are my inevitable downfall.
Award for the most tech-savvy show of Spring/Summer 2012? Unless someone in Milan or Paris pulls out a teleporation device, it’s going to have to be Burberry. Not only were my favourite Fashion Week travellers in attendance (Kanye West, Sienna Miller, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Anna Wintour, Olivier Theyskens, Rachel Zoe, and Mario Testino), but the rest of the internet seemed to be in attendance too. There was a Tweetwalk, live stream, and instant online shopability for the collection (though the pre-orders won’t be mailed for six months). An excellently digital production.
And then there were the clothes. In reflect, it looks like designer Christopher Bailey was heavily influenced by London’s non-existent summers, as it was the darkest colour palette of the entire week and had a gorgeous abundance of plum and teal trenchcoats that were styled with incredibly detailed, wide belts. Patterns were large, rustic, and that tribal trend definitely found it’s way in.
The key anchor to this collection? Time. Time spent on constructing basket-woven sleeves, raffia hoods and beaded collars. Time spent on perfecting the ideals around pattern-complimentary wedges and oversized handbags. Time that equals justified pricepoint. View Post
I am so happy! I hope you’re happy, too! If not – let Arthur Elgort‘s photoshoot for the September 2011 issue of Japanese Vogue make you happy! It is full of Giovanna Battaglia-styled Fall/Winter 2011 goodness from Burberry Prorsum, Dolce & Gabbana, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Lanvin, Calvin Klein, Fendi and more. “In Love With The City” is street style at it’s most impressive. If that’s not enough to make you smile, then Karlie Kloss will surely do the trick. View Post
So much ‘B’ goodness: Bailey (Christopher), Bosworth (Kate), and Bilson (Rachel) all at Burberry! Christopher is a brain when it comes to making the fashionistas of the world look chic while covered up. For Fall/Winter 2011, choice colour appeared in blue, pink and yellow outerwear (and the classic trench brown, of course). With flared skinny pants, Himalaya-high heels, Cruella de Vil (yes, again!) black and white prints, and a snow covered finale, there was something for everyone. See the top five looks below! Fashion photographer Gan is doing retro with a twist for Harpers Bazaar Singapore‘s new spread in conjunction with some stellar styling by Kenneth Goh. The fresh take on your forties pinup – “Beauty World” – is thanks to Burberry Prorsum, Dries Van Noten, Jil Sander, Moschino, Miu Miu, Prada and Fendi Spring/Summer 2011 among others. View Post
