Kanye West Anna Dello Russo

Kanye West and Anna Dello Russo

Though Kanye West got his fame with “The College Dropout”, our fashionable Yeezy is taking the steps to re-enroll. Because there is no place held in higher sartorial regard, he has applied to obtain a Masters degree in fashion at Central Saint Martins in London. Though he has yet to be accepted, Kanye flew into London last Wednesday to meet the head of the course, “style dictator” Professor Louise Wilson. Yes, the same Louise that mentored Alexander McQueen.

A source said: “Kanye spends a lot of time with fashion students and often hooks up with Central’s arty pupils when he is in London. The rapper already has work experience with Fendi and Louis Vuitton on his CV. Now that he has been interviewed the school’s board will have to decide whether to allow him to start the MA fashion course later this year.”

With the balance between it’s credibility and pretension in the air, this could usher in big things for CSM.

El Arte de la Seduccion Malgosia Bela
March’s Vogue Spain brought in Camilla Åkrans to shoot the effortlessly bananas Malgosia Bela. Naturally, “El Arte de la Seduccion” had little to no chance of going bad. Throw McQueen, Sander, and friends on top of it all and we have the photoshoot equivalent of a red velvet cupcake. View Post

January Jones SAG Awards

January Jones

Awards season fashion deserves a standing ovation this year. The 2011 SAG (Screen Actor’s Guild) Awards are usually a hotpot of missteps – a tradition stylist-ly avoided this year! One of my favourites? January Jones. This ornate number by Carolina Herrera has the most incredible cut and detail. WORK, Betty Draper.

Mila Kunis SAG Awards

Mila Kunis

After her Black Swan co-star Natalie Portman wore this exact palette on her Viktor & Rolf gown at the Golden Globes, we have Mila Kunis‘ version a la Alexander McQueen‘s 2011 resort collection. Cartier bracelet to top it off. Imagine a black carpet to see it at it’s best.

Hailee Steinfeld SAG Awards

Hailee Steinfeld

15-year-old True Grit star Hailee Steinfeld deserves a round of applause for picking the ugliest dress from Prada’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection, lengthening it, and killing it. How does she do it? The hot pink nails, Solange Azagury-Partridge lips ring and matching lipstick certainly help.

Julia Stiles SAG Awards

Julia Stiles

Dexter’s Julia Stiles looked the best I have ever seen her last night. Her Monique Lhuillier Pre-Fall 2011 navy and white ombre gown was the perfect level of eye-catching and was perfectly accessorized via vintage jewels and Jimmy Choo‘s “Mini Tube” clutch.

Tina Fey SAG Awards

Tina Fey

Because I love Tina Fey, I try to avoid looking at her red carpet ensembles. My theory is that she either a) gets drunk before dressing or b) has the world’s most hateful stylist. Things have finally changed – just look at her in this brilliant red column gown by Oscar de la Renta. Smashing.

Michelle Obama Alexander McQueen
“I love Michelle Obama” + “I love Alexander McQueen” + This Photo = JNWRGIOJNERGHNSROGNWERN!!!! Barack’s lady love is truly a securing her stamp as a style icon in Sarah Burton‘s Resort 2011 design. There is no arguing Mrs. Obama’s awareness and appreciation of the industry, with great personal style to boot. If it is impressive enough to get away with wearing a British designer to China’s official visit, it is impressive.

Spiderman Musical Vogue
By the time Julie Taymor’s rock musical “Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark” debuts in New York next year, it will be the most expensive theater production in Broadway history. Naturally, it caused for a US Vogue spread. Annie Leibovitz shot Jennifer Damiano – who plays the show’s female lead Mary Jane – as a damsel in distress. It’s marvellously Marchesa-tastic, with epic moments courtesy of Alexander McQueen and Dior Haute Couture. View Post
