Guinevere Van Seenus Miu Miu

Guinevere Van Seenus for Miu Miu

  • Looking good, Guinevere van Seenus! As you can probably tell, the ‘aged’ model has replaced 14-year-old actress Hailee Steinfeld as the face of Miu Miu. The upcoming resort ads were styled by Joe McKenna and lensed by David Sims.

  • Following in the footsteps of Giambattista Valli, Matthew Williamson, and Karl Lagerfeld, Macy’s has just tapped Doo-Ri Chung to be their next collaborator in the masstige market. His line will be launched on February 15th, and will hopefully be filled with his incredibly flattering cuts! (Trench coats, please, please, please).

  • In the past week, stock in Ugg boots has fallen an enormous 39%, with Crocs lagging not too far behind.

  • Tom Ford’s documentary, Tom Ford: Visionaries, airs tonight on OWN (nice job, Oprah), and looks as though it will finally offer an intimate, rare look at the fashion plate’s creative and personal processes.

  • Remember Karl Lagerfeld’s muse, Baptiste Giabiconi? Well, he is now a contestant on the French version of Dancing With The Stars and is often seen in body glitter. We can only hope Uncle Karl ends up in the audience at some point.

  • France’s First Lady, model/actress/singer Carla Bruni, just gave birth to her first child with President Nicolas Sarkozy at 43 years old. She was born at the Clinique de la Muette and her name is Giulia – congratulations, you two!

  • Now she is presumably finished with her role as the face of beauty company Mark, actress Ashley Greene has just been announced as the new face of DKNY and DKNY Jeans. Look forward to seeing the beautiful brunette in the brand’s Spring/Summer 2012 ad campaigns.

  • This has to be the greatest piece of marketing, ever. Rico/Rick Genest (aka Zombie Boy) paired up with cosmetics company Dermablend to create a video which covers his entire tattooed boy in ‘new skin’, and effectively proves their Leg and Body Cover to be the best concealer in the world. Their “Beyond The Cover” video campaign is the greatest thing my dark circles have ever seen.

  • Giambattista Valli Macys

    $79

With designer collaborations gaining real traction over the past few years, big, unexpected names like Alber Elbaz and Karl Lagerfeld have jumped on the bandwagon and caused major hysteria in their chosen high street retailers.

The latest (and greatest, in my opinion)? Giambattista Valli for Macy’s. What I love about this collection is the incredibly cohesive runway inspiration – if the tag was cut off, many of the pieces would fool even the most tuned-in label lover.

The collection, from “Impulse“, is heavy in leopard print and cocktail dresses. While leopard may not scream chic appeal for all of us, he created a printed day coat and matching tuxedo pants that I believe could woo the most selective shoppers.

The collection is priced between $50 and $150 and will be available in stores and online starting October 26th. Check out my must-haves in the gallery below!

    Valli said,

“This capsule reflects my enduring loves, but is really a celebration of my biggest inspiration of all ‐ the energy and vitality of women themselves. I love dressing them for all their happiest moments, making them feel as special as possible. This collection is a passport into my world and a chance to experience the passion and romance of my house and Paris itself.”

    Fall 2011 Couture Givenchy

    Givenchy

In reflection, the Fall 2011 Couture collections weren’t up to standard. While I adored Elie Saab – as always – the rest of the shows seemed to be missing the usual magic that couture fashion delivers.

A Top 10, however, will always show the best of the rest.

    Arizona Muse Freja Erichsen

  • Arizona Muse (my beloved mom model) and Freja Beha Erichsen (rumoured lesbiana modelizer) are dating! An hour-by-hour annotated itinerary from Joann Pailey – Elle’s Market Editor – quietly noted that everyone was talking about it during the Chanel couture show. Here’s to dreams of a fantastic couture wedding in New York.
  • The lovely Bip Ling is the new face of Forever 21! Launching in the Oxford St this week (don’t worry, I’m there for the launch!), the USA megabrand enlisted the British beauty to bring some international love to their fast fashion empire.
    Justin Bieber Vanity Fair

  • Justin Bieber‘s cover of Vanity Fair has only sold 246,000 copies, making it the worst-selling issue since July 1999. Ironically, the cover’s tagline reads, “Is this the adorable, inescapable face of 2011?”
  • Olivia Palermo is becoming a fashion blogger! At Giambattista Valli‘s debut couture show, Olivia told WWD that her blog will feature style advice and will launch midsummer.
  • “I was only used to dressing models and skinny kids and I turned up and it was, like, three fat guys. I just left. That was the last time I tried to work with fat people. I think one of them was Ali G’s brother. It was so ghetto.” – Nicola Formichetti sticks his foot in his mouth.
  • Reem Acra has created a capsule collection exclusively for the Shopbop! Set to debut tomorrow, the collection features both her eveningwear and wedding masterpieces that we have all come to love.
  • No kind words were offered in regards to Dior’s Fall 2011 Couture collection. With longtime Galliano assistant Bill Gaytten now at the head of the eponymous label, the seemingly clown-inspired collection was – punningly – a joke. In the words of The New York Times’ Cathy Horyn, “I like Mr. Gaytten. He’s a sweetheart, but he is not a designer.”
    Matthieu Blazy Margiela

  • Maison Martin Margiela‘s new designer was announced without being announced. Matthieu Blazy simply updated his LinkedIn. Welcome to the internet.
  • Illamasqua, the British makeup brand, has just started up a collaboration with Leverton & Sons…the funeral directors. According to Illamasqua’s blog, ‘to wear the most fabulous makeup applied by a professionally trained makeup artist for your final journey is the ultimate statement of celebration‘, and any Londoner who agrees can fork out £500 for said statement.
    Anna Wintour Legion dHonneur

  • French president Nicolas Sarkozy gave Anna Wintour a Legion d’Honneur award in front of a crowd that consisted of Bernard Arnault, Karl Lagerfeld, Stefano Pilati, Donatella Versace, Tommy Hilfiger, Alber Elbaz, Franca Sozzani, Riccardo Tisci, and more. She also wore Chanel Couture that had walked the runway the previous evening. Green eyes getting greener, here.
