lip tattoos
During LFW Spring/Summer 2012, temporary lip tattoos dominated as a street style beauty trend – cheetah prints, stripes, and ombre styles galore. While lip tattoos are certainly nothing new, they are moving towards the mainstream and today was the first day I tried my hand at them.

I learned a few things:

  • Even if the pack recommends you cut the design to the shape of your lips, don’t. It is easier to clean up ‘extra lip’ than it is to get the design to spread to other areas (see below!)
  • Let the water SOAK on the non-product side of the lip applique. If you remove it too early, there is no way to achieve your desired look besides starting with a new pack.
  • To clean up edges, dip a Q-tip in baby oil and apply to edges/excess product.
  • If you avoid extra lip products and greasy food, these suckers don’t move. All day. I am confident they are the longest lasting “lipstick” around, next to permanent cosmetic make-up.

The lip tattoos above (L-R): Violent Lips silver glitter, Union Jack “Passion” lips, and Stargazer – “pink dots sexy pout”.

kristen stewart snow white interview

Probably due to the 90-something degree weather in New York right now, the fact that I shouldn’t be wearing black trench coats has me obsessing over them. Yesterday, when I was checking out the latest issue of Interview, I noticed that Kristen Stewart had decided to rub it in.

The Western Hemisphere may not be temperature-friendly enough for this ensemble at the moment, but the styling is perfect for the Snow White heroine. Maybe I’ll make a pit stop in Australia to test drive this baby on my way back to London….

Get The Look:

After a while, I realised I had more than enough New CID cosmetics to fill a normal persons makeup bag.

Normal person.

Thus, after deciding to go blonde and feeling so fresh and so clean (clean), I decided to do a full face of their fabulous products:

i-gel Long Wear Gel Eye Liner Trio With Brush in Graphie/Granite/Carbon – This is a super soft-and-creamy eyeliner trio with staying power. It also doesn’t dry too quickly, which lets me create a subtle smoke-out with my finger after applying a thin line with the brush provided. Easy eyes in 1, 2, 3!

i-glow Compact Shimmer Powder with Mirror in Ice Pop – I rarely wear blush (hello, rosacea!), but this is a sweetly shimmering light pink which almost cancels out the natural flush in my skin. Perfectly pretty for my almost-transparent winter skin.

i-flutter Double Brush Lengthening Mascara in Black – As a total mascara snob, I was wowed by this. There are a lot of things I demand from a mascara and – apart from being a stiffer brush than I would opt for – it has them all: volume, length, separation, staying power.

i-prime Foundation Primer – Dreamy, silky, phenomenal. I use it every day, whether I wear makeup or not.

i-open Double Ended Eyeliner and Under Eye Concealer – If you don’t already know, nude eyeliner on the water line opens up your eyes (especially eyes that get no sleep, a la Lela London’s) while avoiding the harsh look of the bright white eyeliner that many old-school makeup artists recommend. To be honest, I don’t ever use the concealer end as I never ‘touch up’ in the day, but the eyeliner is a must.

i-conceal Brush on Fluid Concealer – New CID is one of the only brand that has a colour light enough for me (Extra Light) that feels like it hydrates as well as covers. You don’t even need foundation with this baby.

i-polish Nail Polish in Tutti Frutti – Of course, you wouldn’t get a post featuring New CID without a light-up product! This is one of their upcoming nail polishes, which will be priced at only £10 with all colour goodness of the Nail Greats with no chemical nasties.

i-pout Lipstick in Pomegranate – Another light-up product, this time with a handy mirror attached to the lipstick case. Enriched with Vitamin E, i-Pout feels richly conditioning and the taste is slightly sweet but not overpowering.

Full face and hair (though a bit too straight for my liking after a long day!), below.

Though I have only seen three episodes so far, I am becoming slightly addicted to new TV show “Pan Am“. One of many reasons why? The fashion, of course.

rimmel london
95% of the time, when someone asks me how they can be taught to apply eyeshadow, I direct them to a quad. That’s why when I was invited to try out the latest from Rimmel London, I knew I was going to share it with you guys!

Their new Glam’Eyes eyeshadow quads come in a few different colour combinations, but I used “Bold Behaviour” here, which contained a champagne-coloured nude, a teal, and a red-toned and blackened purple. Intimidating for anyone new to make-up, I’m sure, until you see the foolproof instructions that Rimmel provides for colour placement on the back of the quad!

Though the hues are rich, I did a quick sweep of the colours using my fingers only and loved the toned-down results. Champagne over the entire eye area, a very light swipe of teal close to the middle of the lashline, the red-toned purple on the outer corners to add dimension, and the blackened purple in and above my crease, blended out with a clean finger. A soft yet glamorous eye in less than 5 minutes!

I topped it off with Kate Moss’ new lipstick, Lasting Finish in #008, to balance the look out but keep the focus on my eyes.

What do you think?
