Always a sucker for an infographic, one that tells me to ‘take a closer look at [my] love of shoes’ is obviously going to pique my interest.
Having detoxed my shoe wardrobe to move house this weekend, I am rather interested/heinously jealous to find out that – on average – women own 44 pairs of shoes (only 3 pairs of which are uncomfortable to walk in? Hard to believe!). I also find it hilarious that, as a freelance writer in a big city, Carrie Bradshaw spent over $40,000 in shoes during Sex & The City’s run. Delusional television lives at their finest.
What surprised you the most from the shoe infographic?
If there was any sort of “excitement award” for retailer of the week, it would have to go to River Island. After announcing their upcoming collaboration with Rihanna on Monday, they followed up with an absolutely stunning preview of their Winter 2012 collection (also known as Christmas in July)!
Using their showroom space to assemble an impeccably-dressed mannequin army, stylists and press were invited to indulge in gold-covered macarons, cocktails in teacups or jam jars, and peruse (frankly, the best of) the British high street.
As always, River Island paid attention to detail and showed their chops in the accessories department. Body chains dominated the collection as well as heavy, luxe textures. Working primarily in greys, golds, and silvers, these are the types of pieces you would expect to see dancing around February’s Fashion Week tents.
So, it’s a little more chartreuse than neon, but why not use any excuse possible to throw out an Arcade Fire song title? While I’m at it, I might as well self-indulge and channel my inner Coco Rocha (crazy pose goddess model queen) to swing my new self-designed shoes around.
See? Let’s go ahead and show you the whole ensemble…in technicolour! View Post
EDIT: Winner announced here!
The Jeffrey Campbell Lita in Glitter
To celebrate the end of Fashion Month (and the actual decision on what

Versace for H&M
This week, the Versace x H&M
lookbook was finally released. Thankfully, it did not disappoint in any way! The 50-piece collection
, skirts, leggings
, scarves, handbags, shoes, belts, menswear
, jewelry, and even homeware. Impressively, many of the prints, products and palettes seem to have been drawn almost straight from the archives
. Value for money, in my eyes!
That said, it isn’t going to translate as ‘value‘ if we go out and buy everything at once (…note to self). Above, I have compiled some of my favourite pieces that I believe will work both alltogether and also add something special to many outfits when separated. Characteristic Versace: on the cheap (I can’t wait)!
