I’m officially on the ’70s bandwagon. Though my feminine and vintage-inspired wardrobe rarely lends itself to the stereotypical fringing and bohemia of the decade, my penchant for both platforms and dresses means I can find myself looking like an extra from That 70s Show without much effort at all.
Long live this suede-heavy trend!
What I Wore:
Brandy platform boots from Schuh
Suede shirt dress from ASOS
Hollywood pearl earrings from Rebecca Jewellery
Starbucks mini red cup (#sorrynotsorry)
Though I am a woman of dress-donning nature, my inclination for trouserless ensembles means I spend an absolute fortune on tights over the Winter months.
Try as I might, I just don’t have the cajones for bare legs and beanies like my Northern partygirl counterparts. My legs have, however, found a best friend in these super affordable and adorable mulled wine-coloured jeans. A welcome break from an expensive uniform of colour-coordinated dresses and tights.
What I Wore:
“Mulled wine” (burgundy) off-duty denim (from George!)
Faux fur-trimmed gilet
Black top (similar here)
Black and gold eels from Duo (past season, similar here)
Laser-cut Evelina clutch bag
The new Hanneli Mustaparta collection for Deichmann is chock full of showstoppers. From a pair of sasstastic thigh-high boots to a gorgeous pair of lace-up brogues, there is a little slice of shoe heaven for every kind of woman.
My personal cake-takers, however, are these glittering court shoes. From the very second I saw them, the light danced off every fleck of silver, blue and gold in a way that made them feel alive. Ultimate fantasy shoe status.
Knowing I wanted to feature them on the blog in the most authentic and unedited manner possible, my photographer friend and I brainstormed concepts for over a week.
“How do you make real-life sparkle translate in a photo?”
The answer is light painting.
When the clock struck twelve on shoot day I stepped into the little stunners and spent the following four hours frozen in multiple corners of my home for 30 seconds at a time.
With patience, a long exposure, and multiple handheld lights, we created the following: a dreamlike photo story that quite literally captures every bounce and shimmer of light.
The power of a great pair of shoes, eh?
(As a natural progression from last year’s Deichmann shoot, I have also amped up the obligtory heels in a bathtub shot.)
Since I started training for Tough Mudder, I have spent almost as much time in sweat-wicking leggings as I have in my favourite retro dresses.
Strangely, I’m loving it.
Though I have yet to find my ultimate pair of trainers (the holy grail), I have been racking up quite the collection of new fitness gear and this outfit – Adidas at JD Sports exclusives paired with chic sunnies that sit securely throughout runs – has become a mainstay. With the addition of a leather jacket, I’ve even gone straight from training to meetings without needing an outfit change.
What I Wore:
Reload tank top
Sports Essentials Linear Tights
Leather jacket (similar here)
Neon trainers (similar here)
I often find myself drawn to specific colours. For the last few months that colour has been peppermint and it has become obvious in everything from my car choices to my lingerie drawer.
My favourite peppermint purchase, in fact, has become the Starlet set from Freya Lingerie; especially when paired with their sumptuously slouchy, fringed tunics (their fashion offering is as luxurious and tactile as their renowned bedroom selection).
What I Wore:
The Starlet Peppermint Plunge Balcony Bra from Freya
Festival tunic from Freya
Blue handbag from Radley
Suede and pearl heels from ASOS
