Karlie Kloss Numero

  • Karlie Kloss is having one hell of a good year. To top off many-a-model accomplishment, the Next model is werrrrking it on the cover of Numero‘s December/January issue – lensed by Greg Kadel and styled by Elizabeth Sulcer.

  • After her newest resort collection dropped this week, style icon Chloë Sevigny has kindly invited the interwebs into her East Village garden flat. The inadvertently promotional film weaves through her – very impressive – closet, and displays the original bunny ears from Gummo, sketches for Oscar dresses by Alber Elbaz, S&M dog collars, and lots of Chloë for Opening Ceremony (obviously).

  • With no reason given, Cynthia Steffe‘s creative director and executive vice-president – Shaun Kearney – has “amicably” stepped down from his position. No successor has been announced as of yet, though the label says it will definitely not stop here.

  • Bruce Weber has turned out a beautiful cover for the December issue of Vogue Spain. Though there is no rhyme or reason for it, model Dree Hemingway is codling a baby while wearing couture and a ripped t-shirt (Balmain or Target? Who knows).

  • H&M have been ‘found out’ in regards to using completely digitally-created bodies on their ads and website. H&M press officer Håcan Andersson confirmed that their new lingerie-clad bodies are “completely virtual“, and that they use “facial models” to superimpose normalcy onto the click-and-go body forms.

“It’s not about ideals or to show off a perfect body… we are doing this to show off the garments.”
    – Hacan Andersson

Am I wrong to think this is better than photoshopping every image individually? This way, I feel the shopper would have a more ‘generic’ view of a garment, and appreciate that they are buying an item, as opposed to buying what a model looks like in an item.

  • Internet gossip alert. Nicole Richie is rumoured to take over Sarah Jessica Parker’s ex-place as the the face of Halston.

  • Prabal Gurung is one of my favourite fashion designers. We all know this. We all know, also, that I am nowhere near loaded enough to have my dream, Gurung-filled closet.

But I may just come close! And so can you! Prabal has just been named chief deisgner for ICB, the Japanese bridge label that launched in 1995 and stopped being distributed in the US in 2002. Previous designers have included Michael Kors and Viktor & Rolf. With the brand relaunching in the States – with Europe to follow – late next year, Prabal could not be a better choice. Expect lower price points with all of the same appeal.

  • London Fog

    She’s a caged animal
    London by night
    Crashing lights and cymbals
    Queens of twilight
    Noisettes, “Sister Rosetta”

London was pretty much encapsulated by fog today. Feeling all Hogwarts on me.

Foggy black t-shirt – worn as dress – from Target, foggy wood/leather platforms from Buffalo London, foggy braided bracelets from Cara Collection (my current obsession).

    Emma Watson Feathers Elle

  • So, it’s definitely more feathers than fashion, but I am loving Emma Watson on the cover of Elle UK‘S November issue. The sherbet-coloured cover is unconvential, abnormally cropped and was shot by Rankin. A cover after my own heart! What do you think?

  • Next collaboration with Target? It’s Jason Wu!

Yesterday, @TargetStyle tweeted: “Who is the next #TargetDesigner? Get your sleuthing gear on, we’re about to share some clues.”

Then, “#TargetDesigner Clue 1: the new @TargetStyle designer began sketching the future of fashion at 5 years old.” (Any Wu fan would know he designed and sewed doll clothes as a child!)
Then, the second clue: “#TargetDesigner Clue 2: A beautiful visual… could it be from the next collection? tgt.bz/6016RVb8″

No more clues needed! Placing all my bets on Jason Wu.

  • Remember when America’s Next Top Model castoff Fatima Siad walked the Dries van Noten runway? (Come on, it was only two days ago…) Well, the gorgeous Somalian just joined the likes of Arizona Muse and Kasia Struss as a model for Hermes‘ Spring/Summer 2012 collection, as well! WERK.

  • The French government is honouring Glenda Bailey, the fanastic editor from Harper’s Bazaar, with a prestigious award given to artists who strive to strengthen the arts in France, the Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
  • Missoni For Target

  • Target’s little pitbull is the closest thing you’re going to get to the Missoni x Target collaboration, for now. Since the collection was set to go live online, the overwhelming traffic has crashed the site. You naughty fashionistas broke Target. Apparently, the retail stores have suffered a similar frenzy.

  • Gawker published a pretty brilliant article on the crimes of toe shoes. Vibram Five Fingers for Fashion Week, anyone?

  • Avril Lavigne‘s Abbey Dawn show for Spring/Summer 2012 (…keeping my opinions to myself) had a primarily reality-centered front row. Since Avril recruited Kylie Jenner (younger than CFDA regulations are OK with, half-sister of Lavigne’s boyfriend Brody Jenner) to model in her show, many members of the Jenner/Kardashian “Klan” turned up. Cheering at Kylie-focused moments were Kourtney and Kim Kardashian, half-sister Kendall Jenner, Brody Jenner, and Kim’s new husband Kris Humphries.

  • Swatch has terminated its partnership with Tiffany & Co (?!). They felt that Tiffany’s made “systematic efforts to block and delay the development of the business.” Swatch will also be requesting compensation for the loss of future business.

  • Ralph Lauren has named a new European president; former deputy chairman at the fabulous Giorgio Armani, John Hooks.

  • Kanye West will show a Spring/Summer 2012 womenswear collection in Paris at 9:30pm on October 1, directly after Jean Paul Gauliter and Loewe. This news piece is not yet officially announced, but the rumour comes from Harper’s Bazaar Australia’s fashion editor Christine Centenera, who has been traveling to Paris twice monthly and consulting with Kanye on his clothing line since March.
