Jenna Lyons Courtney Crangi

Jenna Lyons and Courtney Crangi

  • Earlier in the week, The Post reported a rumor earlier this week that J.Crew president Jenna Lyons wold be divorcing artist Vincent Mazeau as she “has fallen in love with another woman who also works in the fashion business“. Insiders have since revealed said woman to be Courtney Crangi, the sister-slash-business partner of jewelry designer Philip Crangi.

“After the breakup, Jenna fell in love with Courtney, whom she had been friends with for some time. They’ve known each other for years through the fashion business. Courtney is an attractive blonde who balances working hard with her family.”

  • Karl Lagerfeld has tapped Carine Roitfeld to style Chanel‘s upcoming campaign for Spring/Summer 2012! According to Uncle Karl, the shoot is “all about athletics and the sea…it’s very modern sportif and in black-and-white”.
  • Former reality TV star/author/fashion designer/(I’ve missed something, I’m sure) Lauren Conrad has decided to follow her latest venture, beauty blog thebeautydepartment.com, with a beauty book. The appropriately named tome – “Lauren Conrad Beauty” – is sure to be a huge hit.
  • TV chef Paula Deen is said to be cooking up a clothing line (pun intended). You know what they say, after butter-flavored lip balm comes couture.
  • At its biannual board meeting this week, the CFDA elected award-winners Marc Jacobs and Proenza Schouler‘s Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez to join their board! Congratulations, boys! At the same time, Nicole Miller, John Bartlett, and Richard Lambertson all left the board.
  • Rumours are a-spinning that Gisele may have shot Givenchy‘s latest campaign, which would mark the first time since Fall/Winter 2007 that Mariacarla Boscono wouldn’t front a Givenchy campaign. After closing their Spring/Summer 2012 show and male model Noah Mills tweeting that he would be “going to jamaica tomorrow to shoot with Gisele”, it seems to almost be a certainty.
  • Next year, your dreams will come true. If you’re a crazed fan of America’s Next Top Model, at least, as the Tyra Banks-fronted reality show is finally (sarcasm) getting a branded fragrance, “Dream Come True“. The fragrance launch will be exclusive to Target next year and will feature the winner of the show’s All-Star Cycle (currently showing) as the face of the campaign.

Valerija Sestic

Valerija Sestic

  • Though the CFDA strongly advised (aka implemented a rule) against the casting of any model under the age of 16 during New York Fashion Week, at least one managed to fly under the radar. It has recently been revealed that 15-year-old Valerija Sestic duped over a dozen designers (including Prabal Gurung, Rodarte and Oscar de la Renta) into believing she was of age.

Her management, Women Management, had president Dejan Markovic respond: “It is true. She is 15. This is never going to happen again from our company. I take full responsibility.”

  • Model Lara Stone told GQ‘s Will Welch: “It hurts when you’re having a tough day and someone says, ‘She’s so fucking ugly I wouldn’t let my dog near her [….] Yes, they have. And 500 people ‘liked’ it!”

  • As we draw nearer to the launch of Kanye West‘s designer clothing line, rumours have emerged that the rapper has recruited many Central Saint Martins students to work on his collection for Paris Fashion Week. Less than a week left, you guys!

  • Rooney Mara, the actress who will inevitably get mega famous after playing Lisbeth Salander in the US’ December 21st release of Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, is set to cover Vogue‘s November issue. Sources have confirmed so after Rooney and Anna Wintour sat together at Rodarte’s Spring/Summer 2012 show.

  • Remember Tyra Banks‘ debut novel, Modelland? It is already rumoured to be bound for Hollywood. Though the book was officially released just this month, the Associated Press claims that Tyra has already been approached by “a successful film producer”.

“I would love to open up the ‘Modelland’ casting to the world. I’m looking for an Everygirl to possibly play one of the characters in the story.”

    Dibs on Tookie.

  • Missoni For Target

  • Target’s little pitbull is the closest thing you’re going to get to the Missoni x Target collaboration, for now. Since the collection was set to go live online, the overwhelming traffic has crashed the site. You naughty fashionistas broke Target. Apparently, the retail stores have suffered a similar frenzy.

  • Gawker published a pretty brilliant article on the crimes of toe shoes. Vibram Five Fingers for Fashion Week, anyone?

  • Avril Lavigne‘s Abbey Dawn show for Spring/Summer 2012 (…keeping my opinions to myself) had a primarily reality-centered front row. Since Avril recruited Kylie Jenner (younger than CFDA regulations are OK with, half-sister of Lavigne’s boyfriend Brody Jenner) to model in her show, many members of the Jenner/Kardashian “Klan” turned up. Cheering at Kylie-focused moments were Kourtney and Kim Kardashian, half-sister Kendall Jenner, Brody Jenner, and Kim’s new husband Kris Humphries.

  • Swatch has terminated its partnership with Tiffany & Co (?!). They felt that Tiffany’s made “systematic efforts to block and delay the development of the business.” Swatch will also be requesting compensation for the loss of future business.

  • Ralph Lauren has named a new European president; former deputy chairman at the fabulous Giorgio Armani, John Hooks.

  • Kanye West will show a Spring/Summer 2012 womenswear collection in Paris at 9:30pm on October 1, directly after Jean Paul Gauliter and Loewe. This news piece is not yet officially announced, but the rumour comes from Harper’s Bazaar Australia’s fashion editor Christine Centenera, who has been traveling to Paris twice monthly and consulting with Kanye on his clothing line since March.
  • Rachel Zoe SS12
As a fashion stylist, there is some sort of unspoken rule that expects me to slate celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe. But…whatever…I love her. Writing about her Spring/Summer 2012 line was a given, and I am overly impressed with the consistency and transitional nature of her clothing line. In the words of my beloved Anna Dello Russo, “It’s really, like, L.A. — an L.A. collection but done in an international way.”

This season, Zoe was inspired by many things including Brigitte Bardot, the late sixties, early seventies, running around the south of France, and a nonchalant attitude that was reflected in her uncharacteristic showing of Springtime ballet flats.

Mixing stark white looks with mis-matched prints kept well-designed pieces effortlessly glam. Everyone loved it. The line to actually view the collection wrapped around 39th St to Broadway, even though the presentation was invitation only. This woman has a magic touch. View Post

    Megan Fox Armani Raw Food

  • Ever wondered how Megan Fox got that body for her Armani ads? “For a year and a half, until about four months ago, I followed a strict vegan diet based on raw fruits and vegetables, no bread, sugar and coffee, but I had lost too much weight. So now I eat a bit of everything. I train three times a week doing circuit training with my trainer Harvey Pasternak.”
  • Brioni is ending its womenswear line! Quel horreur! Not only is Brioni’s Italian manufacturing plant shutting down in September, but their contract with the label’s creative director, Alessandro Dell’Acqua, is coming to a definite end.
  • Though it is still a “fashion rumour”, there is talk going around that Lady Gaga is going to collaborate on a fashion line with her younger sister, Natali Germanotta (Lady-in-Waiting Gaga?). Natali is currently a design student at the Fashion Institute of Technology – the mega-school that has helped developed such talents as Isabel Toledo, Calvin Klein, and Carolina Herrera. Their collection will be comprised of diva-worthy designs that could be categorized under ‘ladylike with a twist‘. Instead of meat dresses, think of a “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” wardrobe with innovative materials.
  • Nelson Mandela is launching a clothing line, too?! That is enough to pique anyone’s interest. Apparently, the former South African president’s charitable foundation has recently launched a clothing line that will donate all proceeds to fundraising efforts towards HIV research. The line, called 46664 (the number Mandela wore during his 27 years of imprisonment), is economic genius; made solely from South African-produced textiles, the four factories that make the apparel are all located in South Africa and employ over 1,500 people. Sartorial sustainability. Go, Mandela, go!
