fall winter
Fashion News – November 26, 2011
Though there have been provocative ads featuring young teenage models left untouched by ad regulations for years, a photo of teenage actress Hailee Steinfeld sitting by a train track has been banned in the UK. The image – part of Miu Miu‘s Fall/Winter campaign – was banned for being “irresponsible because it depicted a child in an unsafe location”, to which I say… I feel like wearing snakes as clothes. Carolina Herrera has announced that she plans to produce the wedding dress she designed for Kristen Stewart (aka Bella Swan) in Twilight: Breaking Dawn. I can only imagine the type...
The Lanvin Dance
Though I wasn’t blown away by Lanvin‘s Fall/Winter 2011 campaign images (featuring Karen Elson and Raquel Zimmermann ‘dancing’), I was definitely intrigued. Dancing campaigns are usually chosen to show us the movement and texture in the garments, where the Lanvin shots were almost frozen stiff. Then came the Steven Meisel-shot campaign video. It is the missing puzzle piece, thank the Fashion Gods. In the short-ish clip, we see Raquel, Karen, and two male models doing some poker-faced choreography to Pitbull’s “I Know You Want Me“. Never did I think I would see the day Lanvin would embrace Pitbull. It is...
Terry Impresses! It’s Shoe Love.
As I was flicking through the September issue of Vogue (UK) last week, there was one ad that really stood out to me – this one. Aldo‘s upbeat Fall/Winter 2011 campaign. From Andy Harman on set design to Sarah Richardson on styling, each little component of the shoot came with their gameface on. Of course, the fierce shoes and sheer hotness of Lily Donaldson and actor Matthew Gray Gubler don’t hurt a thing....
Strubegger in Bottega
Awe-inspiring Austrian model Iris Strubegger strikes a pose in the same Bottega Veneta Fall/Winter 2011 lace dress I obsessed over in June, when Emma Stone wore it on the red carpet of the MTV Movie Awards. This super-hued September cover of German Vogue was lensed by Alexi Lubomirski....
Two That Make Me Go Ooh
Over the past two days, two of my favourite celebrity ladies have really impressed me on the fashion front. First, we have Zooey Deschanel – the actress commonly confused for Katy Perry who gained major fame in Elf, 500 Days of Summer, and will soon appear in “New Girl” on Fox). Though she was stuck in a must-wear-black-tights uniform for years, she has recently started becoming a little more adventurous with her fashion choices. At yesterday’s LA premiere for “Our Idiot Brother” (which took place at the ArcLight Cinemas), Zooey wore a monochrome Moschino dress from the Fall/Winter 2011 collection....
